On May 31,1986, John Heyn and Jeff Krulik filmed Judas Priest fans in a concert arena parking lot in suburban Maryland. Thirty years later, Heavy Metal Parking Lot is hailed as one the greatest rock documentaries ever. It’s a definitive cultural touchstone for the 1980s metal scene: spandex, big hair, denim, mullets, muscle cars, and beer. Heavy Metal Parking Lot launched a parking lot genre that continues to resonate today with sequels, screenings, concerts, a reality-TV series, and fan-generated films and art inspired by the 1986 original. Welcome to the World of Heavy Metal Parking Lot. Hell Yeah!

This deluxe, limited edition, two-disc set includes Heavy Metal Parking Lot alongside related films Heavy Metal Picnic, Heavy Metal Basement, Neil Diamond Parking Lot and hours of supplements in addition to an assortment of other features from co-director Jeff Krulik.

A time capsule of simpler times

"This collection of short films is a wonderful time capsule of 80s rock concerts. That unique feeling or experience of going to a rock show during the 80s is wonderfully demonstrated here. You can't replicate this anymore. A few other short films are included featuring a Neil Diamond concert and a line-up for a Harry Potter book release. A nice set and worth picking up if you are at all interested in the music."

Bought for the rock but stayed for the Borgnine

"Heavy Metal Parking Lot is interesting as a cultural artifact. It's pretty fun seeing footage of people in a parking lot to see Judas Priest way before people were used to being on camera all the time. It's not an awesome movie but it's not very long and ends before the novelty wears off. I didn't love some of the other films on the disc but I adored Ernest Borgnine on the Bus. It's the most fun film in the package."

Heavy Metal Parking Lot- Masterpiece!

"Someone at Kim’s Video in New York turned me on to “Heavy Metal Parking Lot” in the early 2000s. I owned a bootleg VHS, then the DVD and now what is truly the last physical media, a Blu ray box set filled with hours of extra content and fascinating documentaries. Sold out now on the VS webstore, I highly recommend to anyone interested in Judas Priest, 80s Metal or anyone curious to revisit 1987. A minor masterpiece!"

Absolutely fantastic. If this just

"Absolutely fantastic. If this just included Heavy Metal Parking Lot it’d be essential. The absolute dearth of content on these two discs is insane. Love the writing from Dan Ozzi as well."

HMPL is legendary and everything

"HMPL is legendary and everything on the first disc here is cool — but the real reason to cop this release is disc 2, which contains a flood of unrelated short films by Jeff Krulik. My favorite is the hour-long documentary “Ernest Borgnine on the Bus,” which is exactly what it sounds like. Charming. (Also I’m not big on slipcovers but this one is nice! Very colorful with subtle embossing and spot gloss.)"

A great time capsule!

"I've been showing my friends this movie for years. Glad to own it on bluray. Tons of amazing extras! Many bonus "parking lots"."

The Funniest 17 Minutes You’ll Ever Watch

"I went into this as a blind buy and I’ve probably watched it 20 times and I’m still not tired of it. I show it to all of my friends and we cry from laughing so hard. Also, there’s a bonus Neil Diamond Parking Lot in the special features that is literally just as good. It’s a perfect double feature! BUY THIS!"
