Saturn's Core Audio & Video is a New Jersey based home video label devoted to releasing underground oddities and shot on video cinema on VHS, and now, blu-ray discs! In partnership with OCN Distribution, Saturn's Core will exhume forgotten or under-seen genre cinema from the 80s and 90s, with an emphasis on SOV horror features. Vinegar Syndrome’s sister company, OCN Distribution, is thrilled to be representing this diverse and unique home video line!

While on a solo hunting expedition, Dan (Jeff Forsyth) accidentally shoots and kills a fellow hunter. With no one in sight for miles aside from a lifeless scarecrow in a nearby field, he buries the hunter deep in the woods to conceal his misdeed. One year later, Dan returns to the cabin with his buddies for a weekend of hunting and partying. Unfortunately for his oblivious friends, an evil entity in the form of an axe-wielding scarecrow promptly returns for vengeance upon their arrival. After finding his companions dismembered, disemboweled, and displayed like hapless trophies, Dan must survive until dawn in a frantic fight for both his life and sanity.

In 1998, Syracuse, New York based filmmaker Jerry O’Sullivan combined the concepts from two of his early Super 8 shorts to create a eminently exciting and entertaining Evil Dead inspired, SOV killer scarecrow romp. Starring fellow Syracuse micro-budget filmmakers Ron Bonk (The Vicious Sweet) and Jeff Forsyth (Children of the Sky) alongside the inimitable indie legend Sasha Graham (Addicted to Murder, Polymorph), Gut Pile triumphs with its impressive practical splatter FX and mind-boggling, Raimi-inspired camera gymnastics. Saturn’s Core is proud to present Gut Pile, newly restored and jam packed with a veritable trophy wall of new and archival special features including (for the first time ever) the Super 8 short films that helped inspire its creation.

Gut Pile Quickie

"Rob Bonk looked soo different in this with long hair. The extras were informative. The ending in this was kinda similar to Dolly, but better. It had a small bit of Evil Deadishnish to it, but not a lot. I loved that they were drinking Pabst beer, lol. The scarecrow had interesting makeup effects. Definitely inspired me to get more of Saturn's Core!"

A wonderfully weird Y2K time capsule

"Some hilariously slow moments punctuate a fun Evil Dead II inspired killer scarecrow gore fest. At a short run time of 52 minutes, the movie actually packs in a lot of story. Y2K shot-on-video horrors are a particular favorite of mine."

"Held back on this title for a bit due to the run-time of all things! Nabbed it during the halfway sale and thoroughly enjoyed it like I do most of Saturn's Core catalog. Very fun "Evil Dead-lite" film that doesn't over stay it's welcome with nice gore effects. All the extras were top notch like most of SC's stuff and made the Blu-ray feel like a time capsule of indie treasure."
