More “saving” music

"Deadguy was one of the most influential hardcore bands for me, as a teen. “Fixation on a Coworker” really blew my mind then. When I became a musician, in the subsequent years, the record just further impresses. Now in my 40’s, the band has returned with an even more impressive comeback album and this documentary just reinforces the impact and timeless influence this band has on the genre. I’m so happy to have this documentary and the features are unreal! The amount of additional live performances included are truly exciting for any fan of the group."

"if you are a fan, this is probably going to work for you. if not, I don't know what to say. the music rocks and really takes me back in time. the doc isn't reinventing the wheel but it really doesn't have to. cool to have this blu-ray as part of my collection. (and the slipcover looks pretty sick too. )"

What Deadguy is this Deadguy?

"I honestly did not know when I was younger that I wasn’t seeing the iteration of Deadguy I had on CD. It’s not like the internet was what it is now, we had no pictures. This documentary is so enjoyable. If you dig Deadguy I feel like this is an absolute must."

"I listen to a lot of hardcore and metalcore music, yet I had only heard of Deadguy in name prior to seeing this documentary. But I absolutely loved this movie. Focus is on the original band members meeting again, in person and via Zoom. But there are lots of interview skits with members of other bands talking about Deadguy and their influence and legacy, including Trevor of The Black Dahlia Murder and people from bands like Converge, Dillinger Escape Plan, Lamb of God, Everytime I Die and many more. The disc is loaded with vintage live performances of Deadguy in various line ups. There's hours of crazy stage action to watch here. Amazing!"

Dominik F. (5/5)

Good Doc, middling Blu Ray

"A good enough story that warrants documentation. It’s a point in this documentary’s favor where you don’t have to like the band or genre to be interested in watching. Though, in true punk fashion, not much care is put in. The stock photography and low quality zoom camera footage can be pretty lame. The QC on the blu-ray for this is pretty weak. Subtitles are as if they were auto-generated by YouTube: blatant errors a plenty."

Brian B. (4/5)

Good documentary of a group that is unknown to me.

"Well made documentary. Chockful of extras and most importantly much concert performances footage to more than give me a taste."

Kenneth C. (5/5)

Great documentary

"Vinegar Syndrome presents Deadguy: Killing Music (1997) in a definitive Blu-ray edition, shining a light on this wild, chaotic entry into the world of underground horror and punk rock. Blending gore, grunge, and DIY filmmaking, Deadguy follows a band caught up in a bloody spiral of violence and madness, with a soundtrack that matches its gritty, anarchic energy. The restoration is impressive, bringing the film’s raw aesthetic into sharper focus while preserving its gritty, grainy charm. The audio upgrade amplifies the raw punk rock riffs and the film’s abrasive sound design, putting you right in the middle of its chaotic world. Extras include interviews, a behind-the-scenes look at the film’s production, and a look at its lasting impact on indie horror. Final Verdict: Deadguy: Killing Music is an adrenaline shot for fans of punk-infused horror and chaotic filmmaking. Vinegar Syndrome’s Blu-ray is a perfect match for this visceral, noisy cult classic, making it a must-own for collectors of obscure, boundary-pushing cinema."

Fixation on a great release

"While the documentary itself is really good, the vast amount of bonus live material makes this essential for any fan of Deadguy. Busted out my Work Ethic 7" as soon as this was done!"
