Founded in 2002 as one of the first-ever subscription film services with its DVD-of-the-Month Film Club, Film Movement is now a North American distributor of award-winning independent and foreign films based in New York City. In 2015, Film Movement launched the reissue label Film Movement Classics featuring new restorations released theatrically as well as on home video, with an emphasis on films by auteur directors such as Eric Rohmer, Peter Greenaway and Takeshi Kitano.

The fates of an unlucky pig farmer, a feisty home-owner defending her property, a lovestruck busboy, a disenchanted rich girl, and an American expat pursuing the Chinese Dream converge and collide as thousands of dead pigs are found floating down the Huangpu River, towards a modernizing Shanghai in Cathy Yan's (BIRDS OF PREY) debut feature.

Such a strange, fascinating movie

"If you've only seen Cathy Yan's (disappointing) DCU movie Birds of Prey, then you really aren't prepared for Dead Pigs. This is a deeply strange, funny, and oddly moving picture about life along the Yangtze River in Shanghai - I'd say it's kinda like a (more) surreal Magnolia, but that doesn't really convey what's really special about the film. The Blu-ray looks and sounds phenomenal, too."
