Hard sci-fi
"A hard sci-fi film that teases a bigger universe without breaking character for exposition for the audience. It's remarkable how well it looks for it's small budget."

"As usual, Vinegar Syndrome knocked it out of the park with the presentation, excellent packaging, a gorgeous 4K transfer. As for the movie itself, I thought it was… fine. Not bad by any means, but when a movie is clearly aiming higher than “trash cinema” or “so bad it’s good” territory, I tend to judge it by a different standard. For me, the biggest issue was the characters, I never felt like they were developed enough for me to really care about what happened to them by the end. There’s also quite a bit of technical sci-fi dialogue that felt more like constant reminders that “yes, this is science fiction” rather than world-building that pulled me in. The concept had potential, but the overall story felt a little too simple and never became as interesting as I hoped. I liked the look of the movie though, and everyone plays their characters well. And to whoever was quoted on the back of the 4K saying, “This is what the standalone Star Wars movies should feel like” I honestly couldn’t disagree more. If anything, Prospect felt much closer to Star Trek than Star Wars, just without being nearly as interesting."
"Nice picture quality. The sound is a little annoying because they tried to authenticate the sound of people having conversations while wearing a helmet."
"Exactly what I wanted. I have Existenz 4k from you as well. Both of these movies look great. Great transfer and happy that you get a blu-ray and 4k disc."
"Very sweet hard sci-fi flick. The direction, script, acting, and practical effects, are all excellent. The cinematography is real sweet, too, the outer shots being filmed in the Hoh Rainforest in Washington's upper peninsula, helping to capture an excellent atmosphere for the planet which father and daughter duo crash land on. The transfer is excellent, the audio and sound are great, and there are some pretty cool songs in the soundtrack."
"I feel in the pantheon of recent sci-fi, Prospect gets woefully underlooked. This is a beautiful transfer too."
"The dynamic duo of the male and female leads here are pretty awesome performances! The atmosphere is dark and can be somewhat claustrophobic, but the movie is a non-stop wild ride from beginning to end! The peerless VS restoration process was on full display with stellar sound and picture! Thank you, VS, for continuing to lovingly restore and release so many wonderful films from every conceivable genre! You are keeping physical media alive in this streaming world we now live in! Highly recommended!"
"What a dull and boring sci-fi movie. Not to mention some of the worst sound and hardest to hear dialogue I have tried to hear. Credit to them for creating this world with all its lore and language and whatnot. I did think the costumes and sets and all that look good for the low-budget science fiction look. Shoutout to Bubbles and Slim Charles."
"Literally one of the best lo-fi sci-fi movies I've seen in a while. Pedro Pascal does a great job here with what he's given and does an excellent job of building tension between his character and his daughter. Definitely one of his best performances compared to his hit or miss record lately. Really wish he would go back to more independent films like this compared to say Fantastic Four which felt like he slept through it. Really cool concept and some great camera work to give us some surreal looking landscapes. Can't believe I waited on this film for so long but happy I leapt on it during the sale."
"This is my first purchase here and my first real experience with "dirty"/oily Blu-ray discs and case. After a difficult backup job, I decided to look at my disc and the package and discoverered that this was indeed one of those case. I wonder what distributors like Vinegar Syndrome can do about this. In the meantime, I would like to know the best way to remove the residues from a disc beside my breath and a microfiber cloth. . ."
