Reviews

Down and dirty with Begos

"I generally like Begos’ films. This one was ok. Even more down and dirty than some of his others. It looked cool!"

Matt L. (3/5)

Mmmmmmmm. . . . . . . . . . . . . puppet gore🤤

"It really is an impressive production and that to me really makes the film, while it didn't really click for me as a full film, there were definitely a lot of scenes/moments that work really well and I am excited to give it another whirl soon."

Teun H. (4/5)

Begos belongs with Vinegar Syndrome

"It's about time Vinegar Syndrome put out a Joe Begos film. Would love to see any of his others enter the collection. Love the 16mm visuals!"

Jeremy B. (5/5)

Neon soaked hell ride

"Loved that the whole movie was drenched in neon colors including lots of blood. The whole movie is a drug addict fighting aliens in his house and on a space ship. Very high energy from start to finish. . . . I would argue it was too much. . . was going to turn it off and take a break. . . . luckily some great practical effects appeared and helped the movie stick the landing. Never heard of this director before. Look forward to checking out his other movies and I just noticed a 2 1/2 documentary on the making of jimmy and Stiggs on the extras."

david t. (5/5)

Full tilt Begos, if a bit of a holding pattern.

"In regards to the feature, this is the first time a Joe Begos joint has left me wanting. It's very much in the spirit of his gory, neon drenched filmography but it feels somewhat underdeveloped. Begos (Jimmy) and Matt Mercer (Stiggs) have fun chemistry as two estranged friends who are forced to survive an alien attack together. I would've preferred that relationship be the focus instead of endless scenes of Jimmy running wild, slashing up aliens, and screaming f bombs. As for the physical specs, there's nothing to complain about. Both the UHD and Blu-ray transfers look fantastic. Two audio commentaries, a 2. 5 hour BTS, plus an interview with Mercer and producer/co-star Josh Ethier fill out the extras section. In the final analysis, it's an exciting introduction to Eli Roth's new label The Horror section. Hopefully VFW, Bliss, and Christmas Bloody Christmas get the same loving treatment soon."

Shawn P. (5/5)

A modern classic

"Gorgeous packaging that totally matches the whole vibe of the film"

Ned N. (5/5)

A mix of Evil Dead with crazy Aliens

"Now this is pretty crazy flick, with lots of gore and curses throughout. I had a lot of fun with it and if you like Joe Begos films, this is going to be a blast for you. As always, the extras are fantastic and I don't think you will find a better transfer than this one from VS."

GILBERTO C. (5/5)

Loose your fucking mind.

"Great little flick made during the pandemic, a lot of fun and weird honest. I mean that in the best way possible. The slipcover looks fantastic! Outing."

Evan D. (5/5)

Alien Neon Blood Assault!

"Joe Begos delivers a true punk rock movie. Filmed over 4 years in his apartment with 16mm film and neon drenched practical effects, this is the ultimate rallying call for indie filmmakers to go make your movie! No excuses!"

Matthew D. (5/5)

Mayhem

"Completely ridiculous in the best way possible. Just strap in and go with it"

Chris T. (5/5)
