Underseen De Palma film
"I've long been a Brian De Palma fan. He's underrated and too often dismissed as a Hitchcock imitator. Nothing Hitchcock like here. This is essentially a found footage movie discussing a horrifying event that I somehow had not heard about. It's pretty telling that something this awful could fade away from public memory so quickly. Touches on issues of violence and depiction of violence. Filming horrible things shown as both cynical self promotion and the only way to actually change things. Well made and interesting on low budget."
— Ed K. (5/5)
Messy, abrasive, occasionally ridiculous,
"The film’s anger gives it a pulse most political cinema lacks. De Palma made something that practically begged audiences to reject it, which is probably why it still feels so alive. Really glad Magnolia and OCN brought it back to Blu-ray. This kind of angry, difficult studio-era experiment rarely gets revisited properly, and the new supplements make a strong case for Redacted as one of De Palma’s most confrontational and forward-looking films."

"DePalma is a cinematic genius. Casualties Of War updated for the Iraq War era. Angry, emotionally raw filmmaking made with impeccable technique that recalls his early work."
— Barb M. (3/5)
Criminally underrated, powerful and subversive
"Criminally underrated, powerful and subversive film by master director Brian De Palma. He’s never shot a film like this before or since. Still incredibly relevant for today. A must-buy!"
— Nicolas K. (5/5)

No Such Thing as Too Much DePalma

Under-appreciated Brian De Palma
"Brian De Palma's found footage foray is something of a footnote in his unbelievable career, yet it's a totally vital account of a heinous period in our history. Stunning stuff. Gorgeously restored"
— Andrew I. (5/5)
Underrated De Palma
"Not one of his subtle ones, but that’s kind of the appeal."
— Chris T. (5/5)
Powerful
"Excellent documentary expertly directed by Oliver stone. Important for its time"
— Maximillian G. (5/5)
