Saint Simon, a deranged and manic painter, believes that he is the reincarnation of Vincent van Gogh. When his beautiful wife dies unexpectedly, Simon suffers an emotional breakdown and insists that his necrophiliac butler, Hermann, help remove her corpse from the cemetery and bring it back to his castle to help him retain his creativity; placing the body on display inside of a hidden crypt. Still struggling with his art, Simon soon meets a young woman named Sybille, who bears a striking resemblance to his late wife, and lures her back to the castle with the intention of making her into his new muse. Trapped inside, Sybille must find a way to escape the horrors taking place within the castle walls, as Simon has recently discovered that human blood may hold the key to unlocking his true creative potential.

"The slipcase, packaging, and transfer on Blood Delirium look great. The movie itself is a trip, but thankfully it doesn't let plot get in the way of a good time. Not the most coherent story, but it's certainly entertaining. The bonus interviews with the actors and assistant director were interesting, and helped shed some light on what the hell Bergonzelli was thinking"
"Bergonzelli's late 80s remake of Color Me Blood Red is a tasteless trash fest and in this case that means maximum entertainment. Kind hard to believe this was straight to video as it seems like something released earlier in the decade during the prime years. Bergonzelli also directed the bananas In The Folds Of The Flesh, so you know you're in for a good time. Really nice looking transfer plus some good extras (interviews, commentary) make this a no-brainer."
"Blood Delirium is exactly the kind of strange Italian horror that I have a hard time resisting. It is sleazy, gothic, bloody, and completely unhinged in places, with the sort of atmosphere where you are never quite sure what bizarre thing is going to happen next. It certainly will not be for everyone, and I am not convinced it all makes much sense, but I enjoyed how committed it is to its own weirdness. Sometimes I just want an Italian horror film to look great, behave badly, and give me something I haven't seen a hundred times before. Blood Delirium does that rather well."
"Blood Delirium is absolutely bonkers. A deranged painter who thinks he’s Vincent van Gogh, a dead wife kept in a crypt, a necrophiliac butler, a new muse who looks like the wife, and eventually blood becoming part of the artistic process. . . yeah, subtle this is not. 😂 What sold me is how committed the movie is to being nasty and weird. John Phillip Law goes all-in, Gordon Mitchell is completely unhinged, and the castle interiors give the whole thing that perfect decaying Euro-horror atmosphere. The sex, gore, and general bad taste are cranked high enough that it feels like the movie is daring you to keep watching. The Blu-ray looks way better than something this trashy has any right to. The 2K restoration from the original 35mm negative keeps the grain and texture intact while bringing out a lot of detail in the interiors and colors. The score adds even more delirious atmosphere, and the Robert Sammelin slipcover fits the movie perfectly. Sleazy, ridiculous, mean, and weird as hell. Definitely not classy cinema — which is exactly why I had fun with it. 😁"
