Three small town ne’er-do-wells hit the jackpot when they discover they hold the winning ticket to a €6 million lottery prize, only to discover the winning ticket is... nowhere to be found. This begins a madcap hunt for the two petty criminals who stole the fanny-pack containing the lucky scrap of paper. Paranoid potheads, would-be singers, exotic prostitutes, enterprising clairvoyants, and even a colorblind policeman cross their paths, generating one hilarious set piece after another. A buddy comedy produced on a shoestring budget, starring three of the most recognizable faces in Romanian movies, Paul Negoescu’s second feature merges a stoner’s shaggy-dog story with the sophisticated, intensely realistic style that has made that country's cinema one of the most enduring national film movements in the world. Think PINEAPPLE EXPRESS by way of Abbas Kiarostami.
Standing defiantly apart from the political ambitions of the Romanian New Wave, Paul Negoescu's debut feature is an impeccably observed comedy of errors and warm portrayal of contemporary Bucharest nightlife. Perfectly capturing the feeling of post-holiday year end ennui, A MONTH IN THAILAND orbits around it's sad-sack hero’s misadventures on New Year's Eve. A twilight odyssey through buffet-style restaurants with bad karaoke and clubs pumping out dance remixes of “The Power of Love”. Perpetually falling in and out of love, caught between paying cursory attention to his current girlfriend, with whom he’s about to take the titular trip in the new year, and longing for his former one, who seems to shadow him at every party. A bittersweet story of longing, regret, and indecisiveness.

"Plays and looks great on my hisense TV. Really enjoyable comedy. This was a blind buy but would recommend to just about any adventurous moviegoer."
"Two comedic Romanian films, one a goofy three stooges like and the other pulling more towards a romance. Looks and sounds are great for both and there are some extra features like an intro by the director. Chance buy, but I found the lottery flick entertaining."
"Have heard from a few people that TLT was funny and I love that both title has a commentary and short films included in the features!"
"Romanian cinema is like nothing else. This is a double-feature of comedies by Paul Negoescu. They're funny, with likable, bumbling characters. Very enjoyable."
"Funny wold cinema pieces. Good deal fot two movies with cool slipcover."
"Loved this double feature"
"Enjoyed this Romanian double feature. 2 Lottery tickets = a tale of 3 lovable losers. A sort of Romanian 3 Stooges. We see the trio tourney through various predicaments. A month in Thailand = a 24 hour New Year’s Eve Day story about a 20 something guy who can’t commit."
"Two Lottery Tickets / A Month in Thailand is a surprisingly cohesive double-feature that showcases two very different but equally engaging sides of contemporary Romanian cinema. Two Lottery Tickets is the standout—an understated, character-driven comedy with excellent timing and a dry, observational tone. The humor lands without trying too hard, and the three leads carry the film with a relatable, low-stakes charm. A Month in Thailand shifts gears into something more reflective—moody, introspective, and quietly absorbing. While it’s less energetic than its companion film, it adds balance to the disc, offering a well-observed look at 20-something aimlessness and romantic indecision. The Blu-ray presentation is solid: clean transfer, natural color reproduction, and good audio fidelity. Bonus features are limited, but what’s here is worthwhile. Overall, this release delivers strong value—two well-made films with distinct voices, presented in quality HD. Not perfect, but very easy to recommend."
"I got these on a whim and am so glad I did. I love this director's work and immediately went and picked up one of his other titles on VS. These films just look great and feel realistic. Not just easy tropes and answers. I thought the acting was great and these just ticked all the boxes for me."
