Molly Pray is on a bloody crusade against the criminal forces who have wronged her. Her mission strikes at the myth of manifest destiny, but for Molly, with the embodied specter of Death on her side, this isn't political. This is personal.

Reviews

A pretty decent indie horror/revenge

"A pretty decent indie horror/revenge movie that takes inspiration from a host of 70's Grindhouse flicks. It definitely gets full points for presentation, but otherwise is a little underwhelming."

Simon B. (3/5)

A very well motivated slice

"A very well motivated slice of DIY filmmaking. The use of film defiantly helps beefing up the visuals. For me though, I cant say that I see myself rewatching this anytime soon. The making of feature was defiantly a highlight for me in terms of extras"

Charles S. (3/5)

Love the artwork on this

"Love the artwork on this Blu Ray it definitely captures those 1970s exploitation posters. Has a total feel or those great gritty Italian westerns from the late 1960s to the mid 1970s. So happy to have this in my collection. They really love those films and the heart is in the right place. Great extras too!"

Bryan K. (5/5)

They Call Her Death

"A great homage to low budget euro westerns, euro horror and blaxploitation"

Bjørn L. (5/5)

Western Horror

"They Call Her Death is a gritty, low‑budget revenge western that leans heavily into atmosphere and mythic imagery. Centered on Molly Pray—a woman on a relentless crusade against the criminals who destroyed her life—the film blends frontier brutality with a supernatural edge, thanks to the eerie presence of Death itself as her companion. Shot with a stark, dusty visual style, the movie aims for a blend of classic western iconography and modern indie horror sensibilities. Sheri Rippel’s performance gives Molly a flinty resolve, and the film’s commitment to its bleak, frontier mood is one of its strongest assets. While some critics note that the production can feel rough around the edges, the film’s ambition and sincerity give it a distinctive identity. It’s a small, scrappy genre piece—part revenge tale, part mythic fable—that stands out for its mood and its willingness to push into darker, more symbolic territory."

Tarek E. (3/5)

Deadly

"The film had its highs and lows but an enjoyable watch overall. Really enjoyed the making of and the director’s visit to the VS archives"

Andrew B. (4/5)

Wild Homage

"Fun, wild, gory homage to Thriller: A Cruel Picture. It’s super fun, highly recommended."

Jeffrey L. (5/5)

SOV shot on film

"I wanted to like this one, but I really didn't. I applaud anyone that sets out to make a film and accomplishes it. I was really excited with the idea, but I think the execution did not live up to expectations."

Anthony L. (3/5)

New Grindhouse

"Even though the performances were over the top is made for a good throwback Grindhouse genre Style movie. I enjoyed it. I'm happy I added it to my collection. Excellent Gore in this movie."

Floyd F. (4/5)

“I’m that bitch”

"A heartfelt love letter to the ‘60s and ‘70s Grindhouse era. A simple, straightforward story that has some pacing issues but is pretty good overall. Could have done without the jarring occasional CGI though."

Will K. (3/5)
