Details

This special limited edition spot gloss slipcover (designed by Bob Fingermanis limited to 2,500 units and is only available on our website. This release will NOT be available as a standard edition.

Dekanalog is a film and soundtrack distribution company dedicated to the release of the most unique filmmaking voices and musical scores from around the world. Vinegar Syndrome’s sister company, OCN Distribution, is thrilled to be representing this diverse and unique home video line!

From the director of The Last Movie Star, Detroit Rock City, and The Dark Backward...

In 1975 a young Adam Rifkin commandeered his father’s super 8 camera and gradually turned his home in a quiet Chicago suburb into his own private backlot. His penchant for the gleefully irreverent was present long before he carved his own idiosyncratic path through the film industry, and this woozy, unblinking gaze at the American dream.

These anarchic, never-before released shorts chart the director’s growth from from his very first film at the age of 8, to the final short right before his very first Hollywood feature at the tender age of 21.

Dekanolog is proud to present these early works of an American original, remastered from the only surviving elements and available for the first time ever in this ultra-exclusive limited edition.

Another Terrific DIY Collection From The Masters @ VS!

"The special effects from this low budget collection are rudimentary at best, but to me that is what gives it the charm it has! They are so much fun to watch! The peerless VS restoration process was on full display with stellar sound and picture! Thank you, VS, for continuing to lovingly restore and release so many wonderful films from every conceivable genre! You are keeping physical media alive in this streaming world we now live in! Highly recommended!"

DKA-009

"I would not call myself a huge fan of Adam Rifkin, but all of his movies that I have seen so far, I enjoyed a lot. There is always a sense of kindness about his films and he has got a great sense of humor. These trademarks are already there in most of his early shorts, presented here in this lovingly put together release by Dekanalog. They went above and beyond to restore these almost lost movies. Of course the disc was produced in close cooperation with Rifkin, and it shows. I also love the whole design of this thing: from the inlay, to the slipcover, to the booklet and paint-by-numbers card. Extras include a ton of Interviews. Highly recommended!"

What a charming collection of

"What a charming collection of the early films of Adam Rifkin writter of such classics like Small Soldiers and Mouse Hunt. It's pretty much a celebration of your youth. Such a fantastic package and a boat load of extras too."

Bryan K. (5/5)

Adam Rifkin from the beginning

"A nice full anthology of Adam Rifkins early work before he made it big in Hollywood. Interesting to see where he started and how that eventually led to the kinds of films he released later in life. Worth picking up if you are a fan of the director, and also due to its limited quantities."

Tarek E. (3/5)

Comprehensive Release of Homemade Movies

"None of the films on here are particularly great but they`re all interesting and worth of good preservation. I have not seen Rifkin`s features but will need to see some now! So fun to see someone`s style and craft evolve in this collection."

Josh B. (4/5)

Fun collection of Adam's first movies

"A collection of home movies Adam made as a kid. It is about what you would expect from a 10 year old, but that's ok but they were fun to watch"

Scott L. (5/5)
