Written and produced by Bong Joon-ho (PARASITE, SNOWPIERCER, THE HOST), SEA FOG is a maritime thriller that captures the essence of why he is considered on of the most talented filmmakers working today. Upon learning that his decaying fishing trawler, the Junjin, is about to be sold, Captain Kang looks to make one final score by smuggling illegal immigrants from China to South Korea. After arriving at the agreed pickup point, a violent storm forces the Junjin to stall in open waters. As tension and unrest spread, Kang and his five-man crew find themselves pitted against their desperate passengers – all while an ominous fog envelops the ship and everyone onboard.

Great film

"While not my personal favorite the technical execution, writing, lighting, and acting is undeniable. Really feels like a whole different movie once the action starts. The video transfer quality and sound are phenomenal."

Ismael F. (5/5)

Nathanial P. (5/5)

Wow that film was absolutely

"Wow that film was absolutely insane. I really enjoyed it such amazing cinematography and tons thrilling moments with some real drama. I can definitely feel Bong Joon-ho's touch though which is why I bought it in the first place. Great release with a nice Making of in the extras too."

Bryan K. (5/5)

Mixed Allegory

"Sea Fog is an extremely compelling film that gets hampered by a few elements. Without the tacked on romance subplot this film could have been much more rewarding."

Shawn M. (3/5)

Great atmosphere in this heavy,

"Great atmosphere in this heavy, foggy movie! Defiantly one that I will rewatch soon."

Charles S. (5/5)

Korean haunting thriller

"Sea Fog is a tense, atmospheric thriller that blends social commentary with claustrophobic suspense. Produced by Bong Joon‑ho and directed by Shim Sung‑bo, the film follows a fishing crew whose desperate attempt to smuggle migrants spirals into tragedy. What begins as a gritty maritime drama gradually tightens into something darker and more haunting. The film’s greatest strength is its mood: the constant shroud of fog, the creaking ship, and the sense of moral decay closing in from all sides. Kim Yoon‑seok delivers a commanding performance as the captain, capturing the way fear and desperation can warp judgment. While the story is bleak, it’s gripping, and its blend of realism and slow‑burn horror leaves a lingering chill."

Tarek E. (3/5)

I mean, it's written by Bong Joon-ho

"Bong Joon-ho is one of my favorite filmmakers. He operates on a wavelength that works perfectly for me every time. This is no exception, an intriguing, atmospheric thriller. I do wonder what it would have been like if he had directed it, but I think Sung-bo Shim did a fantastic job."

Evan B. (5/5)
