Sabu is an unflinching portrait of one of professional wrestling’s most fearless and mysterious icons. The film follows Sabu through the final match of his legendary career, revealing the chaos, beauty, and sacrifice behind his extreme style. Featuring Rob Van Dam and other wrestling greats, Sabu captures the raw emotion of a man who gave everything to his art and passed away just three weeks after his final bout. A powerful and intimate chronicle of a legend who lived and died by his own rules.

Sad

"Sabu directed by Joe Clarke is a fascinating and at times heartbreaking look at Sabu, especially seeing how much he unraveled following the death of his wife. I do wish the documentary spent more time having other wrestlers discuss his influence and legacy, because Sabu was easily the biggest and most influential independent wrestler of the 1990s and helped shape an entire style that still exists today."

Mixed Bag

"Sabu is still an interesting watch for fans of Sabu, especially seeing where he is later in life, but it feels a little disappointing in how much of his career it skips over. The documentary touches on some major moments from ECW and hardcore wrestling history, but it never really dives deep enough into his past, influences, or the peak years that made him such a legend. A lot of it feels surface level when there was clearly a much more fascinating story waiting to be told. It’s worth watching for longtime wrestling fans, but it leaves you wishing it explored his history in a much more detailed way."

Interesting portrait of Sabu's final days

"I expected this to be a bit more of a career and life retrospective. We get a bit of his background and history, but mostly its just a day in the life kind of thing in what turned out to be his very last days. The footage from his final match is the most interesting. Would have like a bit more wrestling. Touches on a lot of his issues without really getting in depth in any of them. OK but I wish we had some more interview material and a bit more of an in depth look at his career."

A Haunting Look At The Final Chapter Of A Wrestling Legend

"The packaging/presentation is fantastic as is expected from Vinegar Syndrome. The documentary, while veering into dark territory, was captivating and brilliantly shot, produced, and directed. Everything looks gorgeous. As usual the Vin Syn website is easy to navigate. Absolutely haunted by this documentary, Joe Clarke and RVD should be proud of what they accomplished here."

Josh S. (5/5)

Love the art and the

"Love the art and the slipcover. The doc was a little dull and repetitive. Just Sabu repeating the same things over and over and hitting his vape."

Matt D. (1/5)

Oooph. As painful as Born to be Wired

"86 of the most depressing minutes I’ve experienced in a long time. Not a documentary on his career but more a tying up of loose ends before he dies. After watching this, it’s pretty clear he had no desire to live anymore after the passing of his wife. Jesus this is a thought watch. This guy was a complete wreck"

Tyler R. (5/5)

Death defying documentary

"Excellent documentary especially those who watched ECW back in the day. More about the end of the career than history of Sabu the wrestler."

Markus K. (4/5)

Homicidal, Genocidal Tribute to a Legend

"Awesome documentary about a trailblazer that quite literally lit the wrestling ring on fire, shedding his own blood, and breaking his own bones for the love of the game. Sabu had a sort of tragic but common story for wrestlers of his era, especially for those in the deathmatch scene. This documentary pays tribute and tells the story behind the maniac that helped break barriers in realism of the pro wrestling during its peak and after."

ALBERT A. (5/5)

Sabu!!!!!

"Excellent documentary on the life of Sabu the wrestler. If you’re a fan of other wrestling documentaries that featured Raven and Bret Hart, do not miss this one."

Eric B. (5/5)

Absolutely fantastic documentary. If you

"Absolutely fantastic documentary. If you are a Sabu fan, ECW fan or not - this blu ray looks like a fantastic selection. Follow along with Sabu as he is preparing for his final match and unknowingly the end of his life. 10 out of 10"
