Across walls, fences, and alleys, rats not only expose our boundaries of separation but make homes in them. "Rat Film" is a feature-length documentary that uses the rat—as well as the humans that love them, live with them, and kill them--to explore the history of Baltimore. "There's never been a rat problem in Baltimore, it's always been a people problem".

                Rat Fink and Boo Boo

"This is a hypnotic documentary with a large cast of eccentric characters as they manage a rat infestation in lower class neighborhoods of Baltimore. The film is really about the history of economic and social inequality, through economic depression, racial redlining, and so on. It's not expressly political, but existential. These are simply people - and rats - trying to live their lives. The disc includes a short doc by director Theo Anthony, trailers for other Anthony films, and a collection of Q&As and isolated score clips. Highly recommend."

                Rats Rats Rats!

"Great slipcover edition of an underseen documentary that I actually first caught at a festival years back. The transfer looks amazing with a great presentation. There are images in this documentary that will stick with you forever—like a guy fishing for rats. Recommended!"

                Reeves M. (5/5)

                Worth it

"Very engrossing documentary. It was a blind buy for me and well worth it. The slipcover is nice as well as the special features."

                Brett C. (4/5)

                Important film, great release!

"Love this release. The packaging sets the tone perfectly for this. The most interesting special feature in this set for me is the broadcast cut, which I've yet to check out but excited to do so!"

                Joel W. (5/5)

                Beautiful and thoughtfully presented film

"It is the rare film like this that highlights how filmmaking can be just as thoughtfully put together for documentary storytelling as it is for traditional narratives."

                Jonas V. (5/5)

                One of my favorite partner

"One of my favorite partner label documentaries. Amazing slipcover. A movie that gets better with repeated viewings because it’s done in a singular style but gets to a LOT of history within the realm of rats and Baltimore."

                Keith M. (5/5)

                Pretty good.

"Not my favorite theo anthony movie but I liked this, and my cats REALLY liked this one."
