Dekanalog is a film and soundtrack distribution company dedicated to the release of the most unique filmmaking voices and musical scores from around the world. Vinegar Syndrome’s sister company, OCN Distribution, is thrilled to be representing this diverse and unique home video line!

In a small village near the Moldova and Romanian border, a complacent police chief named Ilie (Iulian Postelnicu) toes the line with his daily duties while turning a blind eye to the low-level contraband carried out by the town’s powerful elite. But after the mysterious death of a local resident is swept under the rug by Mayor Constantine (Vasile Muraru) and The Priest (Daniel Busuioc), Ilie reluctantly springs into action, facing off against a deeply corroded and corrupt system of justice.

A deeply cynical, slow-burn Neo-noir that quietly crescendos to a shocking (and mordantly funny) climax, Men of Deeds, triumphed at the 2022 Romanian Gopo Awards where it won Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor and Best Screenplay and more.

Dekanalog is proud to present Paul Negoescu’s pertinent deadpan thriller in this new exclusive director-approved edition.

Another great Negoescu film

"This started a bit slowly but built up a feel. The lead of our story is a real weenie and played perfectly. It was uncomfortable, sad, funny and not clear cut what would happen right until the end"

Thomas F. (5/5)

Excellent Romanian Film!

"This film is kinda slow, but it did pay off for me, The direction and acting were great. I really enjoyed the end! The slipcover is super nice, too, I'm stoked I was able to pick one up!"

Ben. Z. (5/5)

Romanina Black Thriller Comedy

"A wonderful film about small town corruption. Iulian Postelnicu does a remarkable job portraying Ilie the Chief of police in a sleepy small town. Highly recommended."

Hansi L. (5/5)

A calm before the violence

"Starts out a bit meandering, but slowly picks up as the plot unravels. Bouts of humor interlaced with small town characters make for an interesting atmosphere, well worth the venture overall. The film is like a slow roll to a loud thunderous clap in the finale: one that is somehow intense and very funny. I personally love the slipcover art as well - very cool!"
