Reviews

In the Tradition of The Family Stone and Home for the Holidays

"What are we gonna do with Mom? What's going on at the kids table? The teens are out having fun, getting into trouble. Hooking up. Arguing over food. Christmas at Miller’s Point is a tapestry of memories and lived-in life; a time you think about years later when people have gotten older, moved away, or died."

Ryan B. (4/5)

Nostalgic Christmas

"If you grew up with frenetic drama filled family Christmases then this will hit home for you. Love the inclusion of the glasses with the packaging."

Nathanial P. (5/5)

Although I can understand how

"Although I can understand how this movie could be entertaining for others, I could not seem to invest in this one. It's a great flag on the wall movie as a family come together for a christmas get together. For me the characters dont exactly grab me or at least I fail to grip onto them."

Charles S. (3/5)

Really fun film, with so much going on with family dynamics

"This film is really fun, so much going with the family dynamics and then the quick bits of 3-D views. The deluxe packaging includes special "glasses" to see those. There's a great booklet enclosed as well as a 2-sided poster, a side of which matches up with a poster on the teenager's bedroom wall. Very cool. Definitely a film that I will watch each year at holiday time, what a great family!"

A Quiet, Bittersweet Portrait of Holiday Loneliness and Connection

"Christmas Eve in Miller’s Point is less a traditional narrative than a delicate slice-of-life tableau, capturing the emotional undercurrents of a small-town Christmas gathering. Rather than building toward a clear dramatic payoff, the film drifts through conversations, silences, and fleeting interactions, creating a mosaic of human connection that feels both intimate and slightly distant. What stands out most is the film’s atmosphere. There’s a persistent sense of nostalgia tinged with melancholy—like a memory you can’t quite hold onto. The characters, though sometimes loosely sketched, feel authentic in their awkwardness and emotional restraint. Much of the film’s impact comes from what’s left unsaid: glances, pauses, and the quiet weight of unresolved tensions. That said, this approach won’t work for everyone. Viewers expecting a structured story or strong narrative momentum may find it frustratingly aimless. But for those open to its rhythm, the film offers a subtle and reflective experience about loneliness, family, and the strange emotional texture of the holidays."

Perfect

"This is a film that distills nostalgia to its purest ingredients. It's not for everyone, but I think it's a Christmas masterpiece. The packaging is wonderful, and it comes with a similar poster that's excellent. It comes with cool kaleidoscopic glasses, a good booklet, and good features. It's a perfect release."

Matthew M. (5/5)

I turned it off

"It's a realistic Italian Christmas with not a lot to hold onto. Maybe it's like your family and you'll love it. Otherwise, it's a waste of time. I really don't get the glasses gimmick. You may go blind if you watch the entire movie with them on. There is a kid in the movie who wears them. The filmmakers seem to be real proud about that element."

Alex B. (2/5)

Michael Cera Christmas

"I see a holiday movie, I see Michael Cera, and I purchase. Glad to get this one right before Christmas too, but it was trickier to get the family to sit down than I expected. Either way, yet another cool release from IFC, worth scooping up."

Jake B. (5/5)

A new holiday favorite

"I love Taormina’s other 2 features and this one didn’t disappoint. Incredible hangout movie that perfectly captures the vibe of a big American xmas eve party."
