Presented in partnership with Something Weird Video...

The American Genre Film Archive (AGFA) represents the world's largest theatrical catalog of exploitation cinema. Their home video line presents a diverse selection of movies, ranging from new preservations of classics from the vast library of Something Weird to the wildest in shot-on-video (SOV) titles. Vinegar Syndrome’s sister company, OCN Distribution, is thrilled to be representing this diverse and unique home video line!

A double feature of campy chaos from exploitation titan Herschell Gordon Lewis! Lewis's underground answer to The Beatles's A HARD DAY'S NIGHT, BLAST-OFF GIRLS follows the story of Boogie Baker, a slimy music impresario who leads a band called The Big Blast (portrayed by Chicago-based garage rock band The Faded Blue) down a path of sex, pot parties, and surreal hang-outs with Colonel Sanders from Kentucky Fried Chicken. Written by frequent Lewis collaborator Allison Louise Downe (BLOOD FEAST), THE GIRL, THE BODY, AND THE PILL is an Afterschool Special from hell that finds teenager Randy Hunt (Nancy Lee Noble, SHE-DEVILS ON WHEELS) navigating sex-ed madness, a psychotic father, and questionable facts about birth control pills. AGFA and Something Weird are thrilled to bring these overlooked Lewis treasures to Blu-ray for the first time ever—"in eye-blasting color!"

Reviews

Entertaining Early Lewis

"Blast Off Girls is a bright, energetic sci-fi adventure that leans into its playful tone and colorful style. The characters have a fun, spirited dynamic that keeps the story moving at a lively pace. It’s a light, feel-good watch that delivers just enough action and humor to keep things entertaining."

Shawn M. (3/5)

HGL double feature

"A pretty mediocre selection of HGL flicks. Blast Off Girls could've used a lot more Blast Off Girls. TG, TB, ATP was a sex education afterschool special that just missed the mark for me."

Patrick D. (3/5)

Very Nice Multi-Title Collection!

"The slipcover of this very good collection is very interesting, as are the films! They are all very watchable and kept my interest from beginning to end! The bonus material was also pretty cool! The peerless VS restoration process was on full display with stellar sound and picture! Thank you, VS, for continuing to lovingly restore and release so many wonderful films from every conceivable genre! You are keeping physical media alive in this streaming world we now live in! Highly recommended!"

AGFA + Something Weird + Rock'n'Roll!

"I was glad to grab this blast from the past, an era so far in the past. I love seeing transfers of rare and unearthed material like this and I can't wait to spend some real time with the material in this release. I do dig the slipcover art as well, always a cool style for AGFA."

Jake B. (5/5)

More cool HGL movies

"Nice to see AGFA knocking out more restorations of old HGL movies. bring on more."

Damon H. (3/5)

Sin Syndicate in effect!

"Amazing to get these rare Herschel Gordon Lewis flicks in solid restoration and packed with bonus features and a very good booklet. Shoutout to the incredible work from the Sin Syndicate podcast guys, insanely knowledgable and easily worth the purchase alone. Great service from Agfa and VS in putting this out, can’t wait for more!"

Ben C. (5/5)

Colonel Sanders in my HGL blu ray disc?

"It's more likely than you think! I cannot wait to see what's in store from the fine folks at AGFA concerning more H. G. Lewis films!"

Zakaria S. (5/5)

When the 2nd feature starts

"HG Lewis double-feature buries the lede. While Blast-Off Girls is a fair amount of fun (check out the Col. Sanders cameo!) the real treat here is the second feature, The Girl, The Body, and the Pill. Despite it being in rough shape, the movie is compelling, and campy fun viewed with today's eyes."

Douglas A. (3/5)

Blast-Off Girls looks fantastic in

"Blast-Off Girls looks fantastic in this beautiful new restoration by AGFA. Never thought it could look that good. Colonel Sanders himself appears in it and that alone is worth it. And good old Ray Sager does his usual slimy performance. Great release and ton of extras and the bonus feature The Girl, The Body and the Pill was pretty good too. Great release!"

Bryan K. (5/5)

For fans of Herschell Gordon Lewis

"The double feature of Blast-Off Girls and The Girl, the Body, and the Pill is pure drive-in sleaze heaven, bursting with low-budget ambition, go-go energy, and that irresistible 60s counterculture grime. It’s the kind of scrappy, exploitation-soaked pairing that feels like you unearthed something dangerous and a little ridiculous from a long-forgotten grindhouse time capsule."
