After awakening in a mental asylum, a patient plans his escape to freedom while fighting off supernatural forces in both the real world, and some that may only live inside his head. But once on the outside,  he learns that the life awaiting him is more twisted and dangerous than anything he could conjure in his head, one that is luring him back to the asylum forever. Starring genre icons Richard Hatch (Battlestar Galactica), Tim Thomerson (Near Dark, Trancers, Air America), and Tiffany Shepis (Sharknado, Tales of Halloween).

Reviews

From Jay Woelfel the director

"From Jay Woelfel the director of the classic Beyond Dreams Door comes this fun as hell body hopping psychedelic mind fuck. He sure has a great cinematic eye. Tim Thomerson is a detective that grows huge testicles and we get Richard Hatch and Tiffany Shepis too so this is kinda of a must watch. So many extras too it's unbelievable. Great release."

Andrew D. (5/5)

Fun Low Budget Flick

"I came here for Tiffany Shelia, and stayed for the cheesy fun romp. Highly enjoyable."

Jeffrey L. (5/5)

Love the slipcover and this

"Love the slipcover and this movie is long and very all over the place at times but has insanely gnarly effects and the quality of the acting is pretty dodgy but it gives the movie and really weird off feeling and it works"

Will S. (4/5)

A movie that occasionally creates

"A movie that occasionally creates a few effective moments, but for the most part it's obsessed with just being as obtuse as possible with little rhyme or reason for it, and runs far too long with its amount of no substance for its own good."

Dustin B. (2/5)

Enjoyable but slight

"Extra star for shot on film and Tim Thomerson, but already having trouble remembering it. Nice slipcover, extras and technical merits; it’s really as good a release as this film could hope for. Recommended for fans of independent horror who are a little forgiving."

Marc S. (4/5)

Rockin!

"Another one I hadn't heard of but andalways had sweet slipcover and extras! Always makes my day to get a VS package!"

Robin M. (5/5)

Well made, somewhat convoluted film

"A couple of people interviewed on the extras admit that they don't entirely understand the film and I get it. Not sure I do either. I liked it though. Definitely a unique concept and great if you like body switching, paintings controlling the future, weird makeup, which characters are real or ghosts or whatever kinds of things. A mixed bag if I'm honest. But what brings this up to 5 stars is the Tim Thomerson interview. This is a must purchase for fans of him since it contains a 90 minute + interview with him discussing his whole career. (Somehow never getting to my TT introduction and much loved film from childhood, The Wrong Guys. ) The always welcome Tiffany Shepis is another great reason to buy. Not a huge role, but she's great in it."

Ed K. (5/5)

Asylum Of Darkness

"Another pretty good movie made watchable again with restoration. Kooky but I loved it."
