Circle Collective formed in June 2019 in order to provide a new avenue for and community around creative distribution as an artist-forward, feature film marketing and distribution consulting agency. In partnership with OCN, Circle Collective will begin to release contemporary indie cinema across a variety of genres and origins onto physical media, maintaining the same artist-forward perspective as in their theatrical campaigns. Vinegar Syndrome’s sister company, OCN Distribution, is thrilled to be representing this diverse and unique home video line!

From the mind of Peter Vack…We follow the story of Adah & Aaron, two young recovering addicts who meet in their psychoanalyst's office, fall in love, relapse on poppers, and become the biggest assholes in New York City. Winner of the first ever Adam Yauch (of the Beastie Boys) Hornblower Award at SXSW in 2017 and dubbed by critics as “one of the most disgusting movies ever made,” “a surreal comedic masterpiece,” “the cinematic equivalent of getting a face tattoo,” “the first authentic cult movie of the millennial generation,” “the Goatse of cinema,” “the kind of art that many others wouldn’t even dare to make,” and “74 minutes of insane joy," Assholes is a debaucherous romantic comedy of excess for the asshole in all of us!

Reviews

Hilarious and gross

"Such awful people, loved it"

Modern-Day Waters

"This was a blind buy after years of staring at that cover art wanting to purchase it. . . However, bad reviews kept me at Bay. I should know better than to listen to reviews! I don't know what it says about me, but I loved this movie! It reminded me of a modern early day. John Waters. There are three commentaries and a handful of special features. No booklet but a nice piece of ephemera."

Anthony L. (5/5)

Very accurate title

"Funny cringefest watching two aholes going through life. Incredible slipcover"

Arthur C. (4/5)

Don't bother

"If you know you know, not so sure why I got this"

A Loud, Messy Ride with Boutique Presentation

"Assholes is a chaotic ride from start to finish — abrasive, confrontational, and intentionally uncomfortable. It leans hard into its raw energy, daring the viewer to keep up as it bounces between humor, provocation, and emotional whiplash. It’s not subtle, but that’s very much the point. As a romp, the film commits fully to its punk, no-filter attitude. The performances feel reckless and unpolished in a way that suits the material, turning the experience into something closer to a midnight-movie dare than a traditional narrative. If you’re in the right mood, it’s strangely exhilarating. The slipcover is a standout. Vinegar Syndrome’s artwork and packaging elevate the release, giving this deliberately rough film a polished, display-worthy presentation. It’s a perfect example of VS treating even the most confrontational indie titles with care and collector-level respect. Assholes won’t be for everyone, but for viewers who appreciate boundary-pushing indie cinema, this release delivers — a wild ride, an unapologetic romp, and a slipcover that looks great on the shelf."

Tim L. (5/5)

Wild movie

"An interesting film to say the least. It may not be for everyone, but I couldn't pass on it for the sale price. I watched it with a buddy and I don't think he'll ever forget it haha The transfer quality is nice for a bluray. Much better quality than whatever free streaming site I watched a few minutes of it on before buying."

Alyxx W. (5/5)

Assholes

"Picked it up in a sale as I was unsure about this. Very glad I did. Entertaining film. I personally did not find it disgusting or gross at all. I think it says more about me than the film."

Ryan F. (4/5)

Craycray

"Dont wven know what to say hahahha crazy shit"

Marko L. (5/5)

Assholes is Aggressively Unpleasant and Very Funny

"Most movies find their comedy by having a character you relate to so you can empathize with them as they go through various trials. Assholes eschews this basic idea and leans into its awful character and disgusting situations as its source of laughs. Ripping the entire white upper middle class of New York a new one, this is a genuinely subversive slice of “life” that plays its hand from multiple angles."

Alexander Z. (4/5)

Assholes

"The first time I watched this movie, I did not like it. The main characters are literally assholes. But man is it a unique film that is hard to forget. I got it primarily to show it to others and see their reactions. Should be interesting."
