An Evening w/ Rodney Ascher

"Excellent limited edition title on the VS website. Somewhat of a trailer composition. You are along for the ride with Rodney Ascher. I would definitely pick this up bc a standard edition will not be released. It was a great watch with a lot of different content. Highly recommended! Packaging and presentation were great!"

I love all of Ascher’s

"I love all of Ascher’s full length documentaries so this was an absolute no brainer one-off for me that I had to get right away."

Keith M. (5/5)

Trippy

"Weird compilation with heavy atmosphere and cooky story. Recommended for weird film fans."

Jeffrey L. (4/5)

So glad this exists

"This was a semi-blind buy for me. The two segments that bookend this mixtape feature, The S From Hell and Primal Screen, are two of my favorite documentaries of all time (brief as they may be). I was extremely pleased with most of the middle. Such a bizarre medley of documentary shorts, sketches, and even a music video. It all kind of works in a way that I cant quite explain. Ascher's ability to distill intangible ideas and feelings into something equal parts disturbing and empathetic always feels like a magic trick."

An Evening with Rodney Ascher

"If you’re a fan of his work this is an absolute must buy!"

Erich H. (5/5)

Not so much a film, but an experience.

"This is not quite as cohesive as Ascher’s Room 237, but is an interesting experience nonetheless. Best enjoyed in an, um, altered state."

Brennan B. (5/5)

An Enjoyable Evening

"This limited edition Blu-ray is a psychedelic supercut compilation from the mind of Rodney Ascher, expertly stitched together from his original work, remixed gems, found footage, and subversive music videos, all carefully arranged to melt your brain and your eyeballs. Vinegar Syndrome’s presentation is collector perfection—a slick, 1,000-copy slipcover release that doubles as both movie magic and film enthusiast trophy, highlighting Ascher’s obsessions with nightmares, media, and the boundaries of reality. The 96-minute ride moves between surreal horror, gonzo documentary, and dark comedy, featuring familiar faces from the cult film underground (including Doris Wishman) and a parade of genre-bending moments. For anyone chasing cinematic fever dreams or unique filmmaking voices, this release is a celebration of visionary art—one that will leave you pondering your own obsessions long after the credits roll."

Bryan K. (5/5)

Bought for Doris Wishman

"The feature with Doris is really why I got this. It is interesting hearing the story of how she got involved with a music video in her later years and it's especially great hearing her voice directing the action. That one was great. I can't say much positive about the rest. The concept of dealing with childhood phobias is pretty good, but you get a little sick of it by the end of the extras."

Ed K. (4/5)

Great short film compilation

"I enjoyed “the nightmare“ by Rodney Ascher so this was a no-brainer for me to pick up. The packaging is very simple and definitely a need for collectors. If you’re into the bizarre and obscure horror, this is it."

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

"If you’ve ever liked anything from Ascher, this is a MUST OWN"
