North of Spain, end of the 19th century. During the final throes of the last Carlist war, a little girl is rescued from an orphanage by a mysterious woman who lives deep inside the forest. Badly wounded and close to death, the girl believes the woman to be an angel who has come to take her to Heaven. Soon, however, she will discover that what this strange being has actually given her is the gift of eternal life... by turning her into a vampire. Left with no choice but to accept her new condition, she will have to learn to live in the profound and painful loneliness of time, trapped inside her little girl’s body. An infinity of moons go by before, one day, she meets Cándido, a humble man who takes her in and treats her as if she were his own daughter. Now the little girl will be set on a new path, one that will see her rebel against her animalistic nature and revive in her the hope of getting back the life that was stolen from her.

                      Reviews

                      All the Moons is irresistible

"A brilliant and melancholy vampire film that deserves to be on any genre lover’s shelf"

                      Nadine W. (5/5)

A great film but not a horror

"This film was not was I was expecting but it was, however, a pleasant discovery. The tale revolves around Amaia, a young girl saved from the brink of death by a mysterious woman who is essentially a vampire. But Amaia quickly finds herself alone and begins to realise what she actually is. As time goes by she is taken in by the kindly Candido who gives her what she's always yearned for - love. This is not a horror film but a drama about acceptance. There is very little vampirism and anyone who is expecting a gruesome horror will be disappointed. It is, however, a great gothic Spanish period piece with superb performances from Haizea Carneros as the confused young lead and Josean Bengoetxea as her adoptive father. The disc contains an informative commentary but I would like to have seen some interviews with the cast and crew and an insight into the making of the movie."

                      Andrew B. (4/5)

                      Unique Allegory

"All the Moons is a beautifully understated vampire fable that uses its 19th‑century Basque setting to explore loneliness, love, and the burdens of eternal life through a young girl’s eyes. The film’s poetic pacing and heartfelt performances, especially from its young lead, make it feel more like a meditative drama than a traditional horror story. If you’re in the mood for something atmospheric and thought‑provoking rather than jump scares, this quietly emotional tale is well worth a watch."

                      Shawn M. (4/5)

                      A Very Dark, Atmospheric Gem!

"This selection was initially made by the very intriguing slipcover! The flick itself tells a very dark tale that is always interesting and pulls you in! The peerless VS restoration process was on full display with stellar sound and picture! Thank you, VS, for continuing to lovingly restore and release so many wonderful films from every conceivable genre! You are keeping physical media alive in this streaming world we now live in! Highly recommended!"

                      Paul K. (5/5)

                      Great storytelling

"Backstopped by excellent acting - all to present a melancholy meditation on what it means to live, vas opposed to just persist."

                      Oleh S. (5/5)

                      Solid film

"Good film, moody and atmospheric. Wish it were slightly grittier"

                      Jason P. (4/5)

                      Slow Burn Vampire Film

"I really enjoyed this film. The performances in it were great. It's basically a vampire film, but it is never spoken in the film. The atmosphere reminded me of Pan's Labyrinth in a way. Highly recommend."

                      Nathan L. (4/5)

                      All the Moons

"Shudder continues to impress with their horror releases on the VS website. Grab these while you can bc they won’t be available forever. This film was highly entertaining and I recommend a watch if you have the chance. Packaging and presentation are excellent!"

                      Matt R. (5/5)

                      Markets itself as yet another

"Markets itself as yet another slow-burn "elevated" horror, but it's not really a horror at all, functioning more as a coming of age/finding oneself slice of life tale that uses vampirism as a catalyst for the lead's journey to finding whatever notion of a family that she can find. It's certainly slow-paced, but it's not really noticeable as the story rarely lags in the plot or emotional growth of the lead and those around her, keeping you invested throughout. It's beautifully shot, with the snow-capped mountains especially standing out, and the score adds to the emotional undercurrent of the film. As much as I'm worn on the whole "A24" approach to horror and miss just plain ol' having fun, it's hard to argue about it when one hits the right marks such as this one."

                      Dustin B. (4/5)

                      Visually impressive coming-of-age/dark fantasy film

"Vampire film that is a tear-jerker of vampires fighting to regain their mortality. . . . Exploration of what it means to be alive and growing old. . . . Breathtaking landscapes. . . . . . . ."
