    Dark Sky Films!

"After picking up their recent TCSM Doc set, I was happy to see Dark Sky align with VS's website. I don't know too much about this release but with Dark Sky behind it, I know it'll be worth the watch for sure! I really dig the slipcover art too, which helps sell me for sure. A Desert!"

    Lynchian Slow Burn

"A slow burn with a nasty soul and gorgeous cinematography. Excellent special features. Eye-popping transfer. Beautiful packaging."

    Jeremy F. (4/5)

    Slow desert burn

"Really enjoyed this one, bit of a slow burn in the beginning but liked all the characters even as they dropped out of the film. The Satan metaphor dude was both engaging and agonizing to watch. I've never heard of this one and I'm really glad I got it."

    Nathan I. (5/5)

    Man this one was one

"Man this one was one of those that’s off kilter from the beginning. Beautiful cinematography but scary as well. An oppressive loneliness and a few surprises along the way as far as plot."

    Alfredo A. (5/5)

    Great partner label debut

"A blind buy for me, wanted to check out new partner label Dark Sky, and wow, that's a solid first release, great movie, and in great packaging too. Got the cassette tape bundle!"

    Jakob P. (5/5)

    Far out trip

"Knew absolutely nothing about this going in, and that made for quite the ride! It was a bit bewildering for the first part of the movie, but still fascinating. As the story develops it becomes a very good blend of mystery, thriller, and supernatural horror. Characters are quite intoxicating, and the unique filming style, and funky score pulls you in even more. Great commentary in the extras. Terrific release from Dark Sky Films."

    Ted A. (5/5)

    Nightmarish Desert Noir

"Minimalistic and full of mysticisms, this indie desert noir is more than a simple crime endeavor. Blending horror elements with grimy characters, like a Joe R. Lansdale story, what happens in the desert is lurid and murderous. Though a low budget outing, that doesn’t keep the film from highlighting some top-notch cinematography and solid scenery. Everything comes together to make an effective experience. Saw this one in theaters, and had high hopes for a physical release, so I was incredibly excited to see it arrive as a partner release."

    David Yow!!

"This was an unexpected surprise! Loved seeing David Yow from The Jesus Lizard turn in an effective performance as a sleazy PI in this noir-influenced thriller. When your movie starts off in an abandoned movie theater, there’s a strong chance you’ve got me hooked."

    Jon C. (5/5)

    Directed by Joshua Erkman, A

"Directed by Joshua Erkman, A Desert is a slow-burn neo-noir that follows a photographer whose search for authenticity in the American Southwest drifts into paranoia, violence, and existential unease; the film’s stark landscapes and fractured encounters create a mood piece more interested in psychological erosion than plot mechanics, making its eventual unraveling feel both inevitable and disquieting; careful Restoration and presentation choices enhance its grainy textures and sun-bleached imagery, boutique Release editions frame it as a modern cult discovery, and striking Slipcover art often mirrors the film’s stark, minimalist aesthetic."
