"Phenomenal film in all aspects. Superb directing, performances, cinematography, and a story which supposedly captures the fidelity of the book incredibly well. The transfer is fine; the film looks and sounds great. There's an interesting commentary, a sweet booklet, and slipcover is also a very nice addition, too. Film Movement did a fine job here, again!"

"Pelle the Conqueror is an award winning film with some fantastic performances. The movie is well acted by Max Von Sydow. He was nominated for the Best Actor award for his role in this film. The movie won Best Foreign Language film. The movie is about a man and boy who travel from Sweden to Denmark for a better life. Unfortunately it doesnt happen and they are treated like trash in their new jobs. This movie is about their journey and struggle. It is an extremely well done movie. The restoration looks fantastic. Sadly, only a commentary and an essay. The OCN slipcover design is not my favorite. Please check this film out. It was really well done."
"This is an engaging story of a young boy's coming of age with his immigrant father. Their re-location from Sweden to Denmark makes up only the first part of a trilogy of autobiographical novels, this one focusing on Pelle's relationship with his father. Beautifully realized by director Bille August. The film deserved all the awards it received."
