Sex, drugs, and a dysfunctional family create the perfect storm for Donny Drucker’s Bar Mitzvah. We are catapulted back in time to the year 1998 as we follow a colorful array of characters from the perspective of a hired videographer. Donny tries to enjoy the evening while juggling his crazy mother, his teenage angst, and his new girlfriend Handjob Hannah. Meanwhile Gearld, the MC of the party, is on a mission to stop the notorious party pooper Val Dho who is attempting to ruin the party. All that, plus: scandalous affairs, love triangles, spin the bottle, and a man with ranch dressing for hands. But as per tradition, all must be resolved before the big song at the end of the night.
Framed as a found footage home movie and shot entirely in 4x3 to look just like your home movies from the 90s, Donny's Bar Mitzvah is a wild and raunchy coming of age comedy that mixes the familiar with the absurd, including cameos from Danny Trejo and Waldo himself. "I think the synopsis sets this up poorly since on first glance, it seems like it’s going to be a “found footage” crazy party like Project X. Turns out it’s actually more like the Airplane! of Bar Mitzvah tapes as it’s just a series of increasingly silly scenes that are loosely creating a plot. It’s shot in the style of “90’s videography” but there’s so much coverage, they’d need like 20 roaming cameras to pull this off. You’ll only drive yourself crazy if you try to insert logic or fact check. It’s a ridiculous movie that’s only trying to make you laugh and should not be expected to make any sense. If you like Zucker Bros, Tim & Eric, and Adult Swim’s other weird stuff, you’ll probably enjoy this."

"I only bought this because I was already buying a couple of other titles, and this was just too good of a price to pass up. I don't normally do blind-buys, but I am so glad that I did this time. This movie was such a pleasant and absolutely hilarious surprise. It's definitely no blockbuster, but the majority of the movies I love aren't either. This movie was so much fun to watch. It's such an insane and entertaining home video style look at just how crazy a bar mitzvah can get. The kids are wild, and the guests are nuts. This release also has some really fun special features as a nice bonus. If you're just looking for a fun watch, this is it. It reminded me of some of the lunatic comedies I rented from mom & pop video stores in the 80s or caught on late-night TV. I only wish that I'd known about it in time to get the limited slipcover. That's my only regret."
