"Not well versed with German film from this era but i enjoyed the hatred I felt towards this character, really stuck to his guns in terms of his sleazebag ways. Excellent photography and even better music."

In order to survive on the rough streets of Hamburg, 18-year-old Willi gets by with small-time racketeering. After an arrest, the authorities decide to send him to a reformatory, but he escapes from police custody and falls into the clutches of a pimp who sends him to the gay sex trade. At the same time, Willi meets a journalist, who draws him into hopeless re-socialization projects, primarily to improve his own life. When Willi falls in love with a girl who seems to be even worse off than he is, he sets his mind on freeing her from her dreariness and running away with her. But the accumulated problems are so great that his past catches up with him in a dramatic way...

"I was not expecting a bleak character film like this. However, I found this to be an engrossing film. I am not familiar with Hamburg, but it does not look like a nice place (though I am sure it actually is). Glad I picked this up."
"Fantastic presentation of this very obscure film!"
"Beautiful transfer and overall presentation. This is an insanely fun 84 mins, a bleak dramatic violent thriller that is well worth your attention. The slipcase art is incredible too."
"Excellent packaging and beautiful transfer!"
"Very cool"
"One I’m glad I took a chance on. The synopsis hooked me so trust that. And the transfer and quality is wonderful too."
"Supermarkt, directed by Roland Klick, is a gritty, stylish portrait of urban drift and youthful aimlessness in 1970s Hamburg. The film follows a small‑time delinquent trying to navigate a world that offers him little more than dead ends, and Klick captures that struggle with a mix of documentary realism and sharp, expressive visual flair. What makes Supermarkt stand out is its mood: neon‑washed nights, cramped apartments, and a sense of restless energy that feels both raw and poetic. The lead performance by Charly Wierczejewski gives the film a wounded, unpredictable center, and Klick’s direction balances tough social observation with moments of surprising tenderness. It’s a striking piece of German New Wave cinema—lean, atmospheric, and quietly devastating in its depiction of a young man slipping through society’s cracks."
"Great slip art and great interviews in the extras"
