"The Disco Exorcist is exactly the kind of gloriously sleazy, over-the-top exploitation movie that feels right at home in the Vinegar Syndrome catalog. This wild blend of disco culture, supernatural horror, sex comedy, and gore has absolutely no interest in subtlety, and its unapologetic excess is a huge part of the fun. The story is intentionally ridiculous, but the film makes up for it with colorful characters, outrageous situations, practical effects, and plenty of lurid atmosphere. The disco-era setting gives the movie a wonderfully tacky visual identity, while the soundtrack and outrageous performances help maintain its trashy energy. It occasionally drags and the humor can be hit-or-miss, but there is enough creativity and sheer weirdness to keep things entertaining. Vinegar Syndrome’s Blu-ray treatment makes this obscure exploitation gem look and sound better than it probably ever has, while the extras add plenty of value for genre fans. A filthy, funny, and gleefully excessive blast of retro sleaze. Four stars."
