This special limited edition embossed and spot gloss slipcover is limited to 2,000 units and is only available here at VinegarSyndrome.com!

Saturn's Core Audio & Video is a New Jersey based home video label devoted to releasing underground oddities and shot on video cinema on VHS, and now, blu-ray discs! In partnership with OCN Distribution, Saturn's Core will exhume forgotten or under-seen genre cinema from the 80s and 90s, with an emphasis on SOV horror features. Vinegar Syndrome’s sister company, OCN Distribution, is thrilled to be representing this diverse and unique home video line!

When three couples escape to the woods together for a weekend camping trip, their idyllic vacation quickly becomes a desperate struggle for survival when a deranged, axe-wielding psychopath begins murdering them one by one. An impossible web of marital infidelities leads to a meandering mosaic of endless red herrings, deranged Nam vets, bitter office rivalries, perilous punji pits, and puffy brown plaid couches.

In the tradition of Blood Cult, Dead North is a hypnotic, SOV soap opera / slasher epic and an early, non-custom passion project from director Gary Whitson and his New Jersey based company W.A.V.E. Productions. Starring Clancy McCauley (Witchfinder), Aven Warren (Zombie Nightmare), and Terri Lewandowski (Santa Claws), Dead North continues to stupefy underground movie fans with its beguiling blend of head-scratching whodunnit, homespun gore FX, and charming regional eccentricities.

      W. A. V. E

"Nice wave productions horror madness. Saturns core know how to stuff their media full of extras too making this a good value product."

the length. . . the LEGNTH. . . MY GOD THE LENGTH!

"I'm a W. A. V. E. fan, and have come to appreciate the SOV aesthetic. But even so, 1 hour 50 minutes is pretty long for one of these. Lots of typical padding, mundane events that seem to be filmed in real time. Sometimes this is good - I can watch Clancy McCauley put on stockings and heels in real time. The plot is complicated and takes a long time to develop, but there are good sequences in the long runtime. I really like Clancy McCauley and can always enjoy watching her. Teri Lewandowski is also very attractive in this. But it's frustrating watching something this long with ZERO female nudity. Plenty of appropriate situations for it, but the camera always moves away, subject turn their back to the camera, framing always prevents it. The lack of delivery here just makes it seem longer. So why is this a 4 star release? The movie itself is important in the history of W. A. V. E. , and the features are very generous. I liked both of the two shorts (Hanging Judge and Crushed), both featuring Clancy McCauley again. The commentary tracks both have some interesting info in them. The booklet has some vintage newspaper reviews/articles. And there is the 2012 remake as "The Pineland Murders". In some ways better done, but no more enjoyable. It feels like watching Dead North on fast-forward. The slipcover image on this one is decent, though I don't think that cheerleader image is from anything on this disc."

      Never Did I Think

"Never in a million years did I ever think I would own this film, especially on Bluray. Saturn's Core is no joke, this release delivers. Fun updated artwork, a great smattering of extras, an awesome interview booklet insert, I live for updates like this. I cannot say enough good. Looking forward to expanding my W. A. V. E. Productions collection."

      Dead North

"Dead North is a slasher from Saturn’s Core Audio & Video, which was generally a decent watch. I like grabbing Saturn’s Core releases when I can for the collection. This is an SOV film that has some good and bad parts. It generally has a lot of filler dialogue, but also some decent “horror” elements that made the film somewhat memorable. Packaging and presentation are excellent!"

This Is A Very Fun & Enjoyable Horror Flick!

"I really love the slipcover on this fun horror flick! The movie is an enjoyable watch from beginning to end. Yes, it is low budget but that is my favorite part about it! The extras and commentary are also a lot of fun! The peerless VS restoration process was on full display with stellar sound and picture! Thank you, VS, for continuing to lovingly restore and release so many wonderful films from every conceivable genre! You are keeping physical media alive in this streaming world we now live in! Highly recommended!"
