The American Genre Film Archive (AGFA) represents the world's largest theatrical catalog of exploitation cinema. Their home video line presents a diverse selection of movies, ranging from new preservations of classics from the vast library of Something Weird to the wildest in shot-on-video (SOV) titles. Vinegar Syndrome’s sister company, OCN Distribution, is thrilled to be representing this diverse and unique home video line!

Nothing can prepare you for BOARDINGHOUSE. Jim (director John Wintergate), a psychic-gigolo who wears a leopard-print thong, rents a haunted house to "beautiful women with no ties.” From there, this unworldly slasher transforms into a sleazy, hallucinogenic maelstrom of gore, sex, chainsaws, pie fights, killer refrigerators, jacuzzis, beds that eat people, a new wave band called 33 and 1/3, and a leading lady known only as Kalassu. BOARDINGHOUSE is the first shot-on-video horror film to be blown up to 35mm and released theatrically. AGFA + Bleeding Skull! are thrilled to bring the 35mm theatrical cut to home video for the first time in this 2-disc set, which also includes PSYCHO KILLER (a previously unreleased alternate home video cut) and SALLY & JESS (the previously unreleased “family film” from the makers of BOARDINGHOUSE).

Dead & Board

"AGFA/Bleeding Skull doing the lord's work in releasing this, the Citizen Kane of shot-on-video bilge. Dispensing with the curate's-egg 'director's cut' from the previous BD release, this version features three viewing-options; the VHS and theatrical-cut, along with a third-presentation that has some minor differences. The restoration here is obviously limited by the source, but it's as good an effort as you could reasonably hope it to be. Some great, thorough extras as well, including a surprisingly sincere bonus-film, Sally & Jess. Highly recommended, obviously!"

Top tier SOV

"This is top tier shot on video horror. Every scene has at least one funny piece of dialogue or what the fuck moment. Thank you AGFA and Bleeding Skull for exposing me to this gem."

Ryan A. (5/5)

what a wild horror movie

"This movie is something else. I had never heard of it until it popped up on Vinegar Syndrome website. This edition is absolutely worth picking up. The art on the cover looks amazing. The movie looks amazing for what it is. These folk always put effort into the releases and this is no exception. Definitely check this one out."

A wild one

"File under "polarising". In a all honesty, I didn't completely vibe with this bonkers 80s SOV horror, but looking at the other reviews, I appear to be in the minority. Garish & incomprehensible, but admirably nuts, in every department."

Andrew W. (3/5)

A very bizarre train wreck

"Utterly bizarre vanity project is more or less beyond description. If you enjoy going into the deep end when it comes to sampling “so bad it’s good” attempts at movie making, then this is pretty much a must watch. But be careful, it’s not going to be for everyone. The “movie” was shot on video in the 80s so the image quality is pretty terrible yet almost appropriate when considering the source material."

Nicklas J. (4/5)

TERRIBLE Movie — Watch it Right Away!

"Hallucinogenic SOV insanity with a serviceable amount of sex and violence but no handle on its own incomprehensible plot and characters. It’s like a whacked out nightmare with the way it hops around from scene to scene with no real sense of logic, and some will consider that a plus. Makes for a great party movie (maybe depends on the kind of party). LOVE LOVE LOVE that slipcover."

"If you like a true so bad its good movie this is the one for you. Bad acting horrible story it has it all. The saving grace is how good it looks. Just a great job by Vinegar Syndrome to make this terrible movie look so good."

Joseph B. (5/5)

It's a decent film, folks

"By no means a good movie, but DAMN does that slipcover look AMAZING."

Speedo, Telekinesis, and a house full of ladies

"Really fun and out there AGFA title. I found I enjoyed the longer cut from the VHS master best, even if it can still feel a bit long. The commentary track could have been great, but was maddening in that the participant seemed so scattered and unable to ever complete a thought or sentence, getting so off track about things unrelated to the movie. The host tried is best, but she was not to be reined in. I guess it makes for it's own kind of "out there" inclusion."
