Leslie Chase will do anything it takes to push through his mega real estate development, even if it includes arranging the massacre of a Mexican native tribe to clear a patch of land. But no bad deed goes unpunished as, after murdering the tribe's chief in cold blood, Leslie's body and mind are taken over by the chief's vengeful spirit. Forced into committing a series of heinous murders Leslie's life is thrown into greater peril when a private detective, who has been hired to investigate the disappearance of one of his victims, begins to suspect that the elusive real estate tycoon is harboring a deadly secret...

An intriguing mix of supernatural possession horror and straightforward slasher, complemented by several bloody set-pieces, character actor Scott McGinnis' (Making the Grade) second feature film, LAST GASP, stars Robert Patrick (Terminator 2: Judgement Day), Golden Globe nominee Joanna Pacula, Nan Martin (Cast Away, A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors), and cult filmmaker Don Edmonds (Ilsa: She Wolf of the SS). Vinegar Syndrome presents this under-seen piece of direct-to-video horror on Blu-ray for the first time, newly restored in 4K.

Reviews

Last Gasp is full throttle thriller

"Actress Joanna Pacula stars in this surprise thriller where shes stalked by non other than T2's Robert Patrick who has harnessed native american powers to become the perfect Killer. Can Pacula survive? Can her friend Mimi Craven Survive? this was a great buy and I really like the slipcover. especaily the lettering."

Last Gasp

"This movie was ok, nothing great, but nothing terrible either. Storyline is ok, a little on the weak side, but nothing that made me want to turn it off. Nothing special in the extras, just some outtakes, and slipcover design is. . . ok."

Luke S. (3/5)

Underrated

"Never really understood why this didn't shift more quickly, as it's fairly entertaining. Maybe not a 10/10, but it's certainly better than a lot of films which quickly sold out! Perhaps it hasn't found an audience quite yet, but perhaps it will one day."

A Peter Griffin worthy title that finally makes sense

""Oh, oh they said it! They said it!" Good quality film. Decent acting. Good special effects. Nice visual quality. While not bad, there could have been a little bit more story development in some scenes rather than some of the visuals. Having grown up on X-files, it's weird to see Doggett (Patrick) as a villain. But I guess Terminator fans are used to it. Nice packaging and double sided cover (the one side evokes Hannibal Lector vibes to me). Overall a nice release from Vinegar Syndrome."

A Whisper of Evil in a Sun‑Bleached Thriller

"Last Gasp is the kind of nineties supernatural thriller that sneaks up on you. It starts like a standard tale of obsession and murder, then slowly lets its stranger elements seep through the cracks. The movie leans on atmosphere more than spectacle, and that gives it a steady, unsettling pulse as the story unfolds. The Blu Ray transfer does the film a real favor. Colors look cleaner, the desert landscapes gain more texture, and the darker scenes finally have enough clarity to show off the eerie details that used to get swallowed by murky VHS copies. Grain is present in a natural way, giving the image a grounded feel without distracting from the action. The sound mix is also noticeably improved. Dialogue sits more comfortably above the score, ambient effects have more presence, and the overall balance makes the film feel sharper and more deliberate. The lettering on the packaging leans into the film’s sinister tone. Bold, slightly jagged fonts give the title a sense of menace, hinting at the supernatural thread running through the story. It is the kind of design that would have caught your eye on a video‑store shelf, promising something darker than the average thriller. For fans of overlooked nineties genre fare, this release gives Last Gasp the clarity and presence it never had during its original home‑video life."

Jimmy W. (5/5)

Not worth it

"This is a neat enough movie, but the slipcover is a bland duplicate, there's no booklet, and the only special features are bad outtakes. Even the transfer doesn't seem too special. Skip this release."

Matthew M. (2/5)

Nice movie to buy on sale.

"Nice little hidden gem from the 90s that not a lot of people have heard of. Movie looks great. Transfer was good and the sound was on par"

Jesse M. (4/5)

Ricardo B. (5/5)

"I watched this movie twice and I still feel indifferent about it. But I love Robert Patrick so it was worth a purchase for that alone."
