This special limited edition embossed slipcover (designed by Earl Kessler Jr.) is limited to 6,000 units and is only available here at VinegarSyndrome.com!

A group of aliens in a guitar shaped spaceship are on the hunt to find the true source of Rock n’ Roll. After spotting teenage DeeDee and her boyfriend Frankie, each of whom are vying to become the top rocker in the small town of Speelburgh, the aliens land, only to set off of an increasingly strange series of events and musical mayhem that threatens the very existence of the town itself!

Starring the legendary actress and singer Pia Zadora (Butterfly, Hairspray) in what might be the wildest and wackiest role of her career, James Fargo’s (Every Which Way But Loose) VOYAGE OF THE ROCK ALIENS is a nearly unclassifiable smorgasbord made up of one part rock musical, one part sci-fi insanity, and one part 50s kitsch through an 80s glam lens. Never given an authorized disc release in the US, Vinegar Syndrome presents this seminal slice of premium cable nostalgia in its ultimate home video edition, featuring a gorgeous and brand new 2K restoration and jam packed with comprehensive and newly produced extras.

Reviews

Voyage of the Rock Aliens

"A brilliant blind buy, really enjoyed this one. It felt like a cross between Grease and Flash Gordon, with a little extra cheese on top. It is campy and cheesy, but that really does work in it's favour. Some great performances in various roles, made this very easy viewing. There are also a couple of good making of/interviews in the extras, well worth a watch, plus the cover artwork looks great."

Well, That Certainly Was A Movie

"Voyage of the Rock Aliens is an interesting film and a time capsule of the early 80s. It’s like a series of B-Side music videos compiled to make a movie. It’s not bad and somewhat fun but easily forgettable. As for the transfer, VS knocks it out of the park once again. Beautiful picture and sound. The 80s music pumps from the speakers with perfect clarity. The slipcover is top-notch."

Andrew R. (5/5)

Very sweet film. Fun music

"Very sweet film. Fun music and really goofy. I wish there were more releases like this one. The soundtrack is alot of fun."

Michael Berryman is the MVP

"This was clearly trying to be the next 'Rocky Horror Picture Show'. It did not succeed! Worth a watch, even if just for some Michael Berryman magic. 'Streets Of Fire' from the same year will probably scratch the same itch."

Scott L. (3/5)

It was acceptable in the eighties

"You could just do anything in the eighties, including make a sci-fi alien rock musical that is basically just nonstop ridiculous songs, and because it was the 80s it somehow slaps."

Jon B. (5/5)

Catchy!

"Movie: This made me smile for almost the entire runtime. The frequent musical numbers aren't groundbreaking songwise, but are catchy enough to keep the energy going and always visually interesting. There's a bit too much going on plotwise to give anything real depth, and it sometimes feels like having a fever dream after watching too many music videos. However, there's so much demonstrable effort on screen, from the endless costumes, to the dance choreography, to the sets & props, that I always felt charmed. Most scenes may have been one long wind up to a stupid joke after another, but they usually made me laugh. Extras: Two very enjoyable featurettes. I especially enjoyed the attention paid to the editing. Crazy not include the movie trailer IMO though. Packaging: Bonus points for reversible cover, and both sides are fun designs that fit the movie."

Gideon M. (5/5)

Fun 80's Musical

"Fun 1980's campy sci-fi musical. Would make a great double feature with Xanadu or The Apple."

William G. (5/5)

I loved this one a

"I loved this one a lot more than I expected to. It's silly fun along the same lines as Surf II and is very self aware. Definitely one of my favorite blind buys from VS."

Daniel K. (5/5)
