Weird gory monster slasher.
"Pretty oddball late 80s monster slasher. Lots of college antics and slime. Great special features."
This listing is for the standard edition Blu-ray/DVD combo. The limited edition slipcover (designed by Earl Kessler Jr.) was limited to 2,000 units and is sold out. The two versions are identical, aside from the slipcover.
It's hazing season at Phi Up and the boys are up to all sorts of nasty pranks on their hapless pledges, in between regular bouts of 'wetting their whistles' at the campus watering hole…with some of the area's beautiful sorority babes. But this is going to be one literal 'hell week' as they unwittingly unleash the spirit of Acid Sid; an unfortunate pledge who was accidentally dissolved in acid during a hazing prank gone wrong some 20 years earlier. As the helpless fratboys and pledges fall victim to Sid's wrath and seemingly indestructible towering zombie corpse, it's up to the stragglers to figure out how to kill someone who's been dead for two decades, or die trying.
A truly one-of-a-kind blending of post-Animal House T&A sex comedy and gore filled supernatural slasher, Paul Ziller's PLEDGE NIGHT unloads a nearly non-stop barrage of weirdness on the viewer. From the jaw dropping, all-based-on-actual-practices, hazing rituals, as meticulously researched by writer/producer Joyce Synder (Raw Talent), to the slimy and often 'explosive' gore, from effects wizard Dean Kartalas, along with a soundtrack performed by Anthrax, whose singer, Joey Belladonna makes a memorable onscreen appearance, PLEDGE NIGHT serves up a non-stop ride of horror and weirdness guaranteed to keep you glued to the screen, mouth agape. Vinegar Syndrome is excited to offer up this one-of-a-kind slice of sleaze on Blu-ray for the very first time, newly restored in 2k from its original 35mm camera negative.

"Pretty oddball late 80s monster slasher. Lots of college antics and slime. Great special features."
"Well worth checking out. A well done slasher. Audio and sound quality are superb on this blurau edition."
"I like the movie more on rewatch. It's a little slow to start, but once the killing starts and a few tops are taken off it's in the ballpark of a good slasher. They did a lot with a little. Good enough."
"Lead singer for Anthrax is in the movie and he's surprisingly a decent actor. If you like greasy college scumbags getting killed this one is for you. The male characters are loathsome which makes you want them dead even more."
"A bit too late to the 80s slasher party, but good enough"
"Synopsis: After about 43 minutes of non-horror mostly hell week hazing run time the pledges or Phi Upsilon Nu are in for a world of hurt when hippy pledge Sidney Snyder, who was killed 18 years prior during a prank gone bad, comes out of the toilet like a Ghoulie seeking revenge. After possessing one of the brothers for a brief period for some regular slashing fun, old Sid stalks the rest of the crew in a more supernatural manner. Headstrong local frat-boy-to-be Bonner, who may have a connection to the killer, has to try and survive the night and save as many of his future brothers that he can. Review: If I never hear that frat boys grating laugh again it'll be way too soon. The one preppy frat troll that loved inflicting pain on the pledges was hilarious. It's really a tale of two movies with the first 40+ minutes being devoted to hazing hijinks and the last 40 amping it up to supernatural slasher. Unfortunately by the time it got to the latter half I was already disengaged. Death by Cherry Bomb is pretty creative though. Carnage Count 2/5 Sleaze Score 3/5"
"Really fun atmosphere mixing of a sex comedy and a slasher film"
"This one is a bit of a mess, but still, pretty entertaining college frat pick. The transfer is great, and has a few decent extras, but hard to recommend the film itself. Artwork is great though. Recommend picking this one up on sale."
"This restoration ensures that this movie has never looked better. The transfer is impeccable and the plethora of included extras makes this purchase a no brainer."
"A really great release of a movie that was kinda forgotten about for the longest time. Good features and it's awesome to see the film in non vhs quailty. Recommended for slasher enthusiasts. . . Also for fans of Ghoulies the third."
