From the mind of Ed Wood comes ORGY OF THE DEAD! Horror novelist John and his girlfriend Shirley are taking a night drive, in search of an eerie graveyard that will hopefully inspire John to come up with his next story, but instead stumble into the wild rituals conducted by The Dark Master and his faithful servants. Taken prisoner, they're forced to watch the shocking rites unfold as they await their fate!

Written by the venerable Ed Wood (GLEN OR GLENDA), directed by cult movie maverick, A.C. Stephen (FUGITIVE GIRLS), lighting and camera assistance from Ted V. Mikels (THE DOLL SQUAD) and starring Criswell (PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE), ORGY is a campy, sexy, and thoroughly outrageous gem from the height of the 'nudie cutie' period and is proudly presented by Vinegar Syndrome on Blu-ray for the first time in a brand new 2k restoration from the original 35mm camera negative!

Sexy vamps rule!

"Another excellent Vinegar Syndrome release. I’m very happy with the purchase and pleased to add another title to my ever-growing collection. The quality and presentation are exactly what I’ve come to expect from Vinegar Syndrome, and the customer service has been excellent too. I haven’t watched everything I’ve bought yet, as my buying habit is considerably faster than my viewing habit! Still, I’m very pleased to have this one."

Pure Ed Wood

"Every ten minutes of topless women shaking it you get criswell spouting insane dialogue or a wolf man and a mummy doing silly antics. Great film"

Not a narrative movie, but

"Not a narrative movie, but if you enjoy exotic dancing in cosplay you may have found your holy grail."

Ed Wood and Criswell meet strippers and monsters

"I'm a fan of Ed Wood, Criswell, classic monsters, and old school smut. This movie combines all of those things, and the fine folks at Melusine have issued it on a blu ray that looks better than it has any right to. Goofy "psychic" Criswell stars as the Prince of Darkness, who holds court in a cemetery with his crew of werewolves, mummies, vampires, and skeletons. There he watches as strippers half halfheartedly dance for his amusement, uttering such distinctively Ed Woodian dialogue as, "Torture! Torture! It pleasures me!" Is it good? No, of course not. But for me, at least, it's a real hoot to watch."

Ed wood it is and it isn't

"Even today, it’s still unbelievable that Ed Wood’s films are so difficult to find, let alone properly remastered. The films he is best known for — Glen or Glenda, Plan 9 from Outer Space, Bride of the Monster — all featuring a brilliant, utterly well-meaning Bela Lugosi, remain surprisingly hard to find and are mostly stuck on DVD. Orgy of the Dead may not have been directed by Wood himself, but it certainly feels like a genuine Ed Wood film. The narration is provided by a certain Criswell, who almost has the same wonderfully theatrical presence as Bela Lugosi. The rest of the film feels like a 1960s nightclub or go-go bar experience, where one topless dance is followed by another. Boring? It could be. And yet, somehow, it isn’t. It’s a strange little time capsule of pure visual sin — a wonderfully sleazy piece of 1960s exploitation that is almost fascinating simply because it exists. I even find myself preferring the alternative slipcase artwork to the original. So yes, I’m very happy to have this one in my collection. I only wish Vinegar Syndrome could get hold of some of the better-known Ed Wood titles as well. I suppose the rights must be the problem, because it’s hard to understand why these films remain so neglected. A very welcome addition to the collection."
