A brilliant computer scientist has just finished work on his greatest creation: a super computer with the ability to transform the personalities of bad and disobedient people. In anticipation of sharing his work with the scientific community, the scientist invites a fellow expert to test the machine on a group of debauched young women. Little does he know that his colleague intends to use the computer to turn their subjects into bloodthirsty mutants!

Made by a French crew in Florida, NIGHTMARE WEEKEND is a non-stop assault on the senses. Head explosions, gratuitous nudity and softcore sex, bikers, roller-skating, and a telepathic hand puppet named George rank NIGHTMARE WEEKEND among the weirdest and most jaw droppingly absurd horror films of the 1980s. Long available only in low quality transfers of the R rated version, Vinegar Syndrome presents this forgotten trash masterpiece fully uncut and in widescreen, on Blu-ray for the first time!

Nightmare Weekend

"This was an odd one, it was a blind buy so I wasn't too sure what to expect, and I feel like the movie wasn't sure either. The story is there, just about, and plenty is left unexplained, practical effects however were pretty decent. I opted for the non slipcover edition, not just because the slip art is awful, but also because the art on the standard is fantastic."

Sick slip

"Sale pick up. Can’t wait to watch a new (to me) troma flick"

So bad it's sometimes good

"A glorious mess of a film. . . still enjoyable, but more so bad it's good moments."

Who says your movie has to make any sense?

"Synopsis: Brilliant professor/inventor Edward Brake has created a system known as Apache that can control minds as well as inanimate objects. His agoraphobicish daughter Jessica uses the device as a video game not knowing that it can control certain items (like cars). Her Butler, which is a robotic puppet ned George uses Apache to protect Jess and the house from various ne'er-do-wells. This seemingly regular weekend of human testing for Apache turns into a NIGHTMARE WEEKEND when Edwards' deranged assistant uses it to turn 3 beautiful test subjects into killing machines. Review: This has to be in the top 10 for Non-sensical movies of all time but it does have a little charm to it. The Phantasmesque Spheres and the Puppet Robot George make Nightmare Weekend more enjoyable as do the boobs and blood. Not entirely sure I know what's going on but I know I don't absolutely hate it. It's not overly good by any stretch of the imagination but it is never boring. Carnage Count 3/5 Sleaze Score 3/5"

Bonkers

"Nightmare Weekend is a slice of 80's craziness that has to be seen to be believed. Another great title brought back from obscurity by VS!"

Thomas S. (4/5)

That's a crazy slasher! For real!!!

"Well, I'm giving it 5 stars for the overall blu-ray and the fantastic extras. For the movie? I had fun and laughed hard for the most part of it, but I would give 3. 5 to 4 stars, which is a great grade. Is this a masterpiece? Not at all. But it is really fun until the bonkers ending, where the movie ends out of nowhere. It has to be seen to be believed. Anyway, another recommendation for you that love crazy slashers like me!!"

GILBERTO C. (5/5)

Classic TROMA!

"A great weird, twisted little film where nothing AND everything makes sense!"

Thomas P. (5/5)

Ragnar T. (5/5)

Make THIS weekend a NIGHTMARE!

"I was so happy to finally receive this from Vinegar Syndrome. . . a great lil entry into the label, featuring a 80s horror atmosphere all the way! (Remember "CHOPPING MALL"?) A beautiful new scan and picture by VinSyn and an awesome slipcover to really flesh out that 80s vibe! I loved it! A++"

Steven K. (5/5)

So bad it’s good

"Nightmare Weekend is an under appreciated so-bad-it’s-good gem with a great release from Vinegar Syndrome. Most amusing are the puppet “robot”, nonsensical logic (controlling a car and silver balls remotely), and laughable dialogue."
