A weekend pleasure trip to an isolated island off Hong Kong turns into hell on wheels (and sand) when a wild, unruly motorcycle gang winds up on the same ferry as Carrie and her guests Mei-Chuan and Chien-Chung. Landing on the island, where Carrie's boyfriend Sze Wei welcomes them to his father's lush waterfront villa, the bikers then commence to party, carouse, and race their Yamahas on the beach. Once a few of them hassle Carrie, and Sze Wei confronts them with a harpoon gun, inevitable tensions start to boil. With any police a day or so away, vandalism and cruel pranks soon turn into violent retribution, and suddenly, far worse. Who'll remain alive when all the dust settles?
It took 1970s Shaw ingenuity to update the delinquent biker movie template into a brutal genre hybrid reinforced with a stiff dose of Straw Dogs, and director Chih-Hung Kuei (Corpse Mania, The Boxer's Omen) was just the man for the job. Boasting a broad array of action stunts, casual sleaze, and a steadily escalating level of wanton destruction, this shocker boasts a screenplay by the prolific On Szeto (Killer Constable), and stars Yun Ling (Death Duel), Terry Liu (The Killer Snakes), and Danny Lee (City on Fire). Vinegar Syndrome Archive is revved and ready to bring you the Blu-ray premiere of this exploitation gem, newly scanned in 2K from its 35mm original camera negative.

Reviews
More funny than anything.
"Despite not having any truly standout performances, Killers on Wheels is just crazy enough to be fun. Unfortunately, they wait until almost the very end of the film to throw in some suspense, but everything up until then is strangely humorous given the circumstances. In the world of lost film obscurities, do yourself a favor and watch this one. If not for the laughs, for its many tasteless exploitation sensibilities that will possibly leave you feeling dirty."

Sick
"Killers on Wheels is peak Shaw Bros chaos, with motorcycles, fists, and bad decisions flying around like everyone signed a waiver before filming. It’s not the cleanest ride, but it has that wild old-school energy that makes you grin and wonder how nobody died making it."

Awesome VSA
"Awesome VSA, yes siree, love this one. Packaging is top tier as always."

Best in the series so far
"Given its subject matter, some will be uncomfortable watching this. It’s a biker movie very much of the 70s. The restoration isn’t visually perfect, but it is fitting for this kind of film and I’m glad I got to see it."
— Andrew Z. (5/5)
Nihilistic and often ugly
"The first hour can feel somewhat aimless, but once the film commits to its downward spiral, it becomes difficult to look away. Kuei's eye for kinetic action and location shooting gives the film an anarchic energy, while the final act erupts into a vicious barrage of booby traps, flaming wreckage, and brutal payback. A prime example of Hong Kong exploitation at its most uncompromising and unhinged."
— Mitchell C. (5/5)
Great HK biker flick
"Wouldn't have thought biker movies were a popular genre in Hong Kong. Glad to see this one though. Unlike the other two archive releases in "Shaw-sploitation", this is the only one that really lives up to the title. This is pure exploitation movie through and through. Nudity, violence, gore, action, bike chases. . . this one checks all the boxes. More nudity than most Shaw Brothers releases. Lots of Yamaha product placement. Surprised they were OK with being associated with a gang of rapist thugs. Kind of mixing Brando with the Hell's Angels in the costuming. One jacket had both nazi symbols and US Army patches. As everyone's noted, switches from bikers to Straw Dogs for the conclusion. A locations featurette is included and I always love those features. I doubt I will ever visit Hong Kong, but seeing the filming locations and how things have changed is always a lot of fun. Highly recommended."

beautiful restoration
"Gorgeous package, presentation, and sound. Killers on Wheels is a super fun piece of exploitation by one of Hong Kong's best. Please restore more of his stuff as soon as possible. Wonderful features as well."

Shawsploitation that needed a bit more bite
"Have to point out there's some serious issues with the negative used for this release, not Vinegar Syndrome's fault, nice packaging however. The film itself is an odd duck doesn't go all out like a Japanese Pinky Violence film might do, oddly restrained for a Shaw Brothers flick, the over cranking of the film to speed things up causes comedic effect, could've prevented that with some editing to tighten things up. The last 30 minutes however is very good indeed."

Killer Movie!
"The movie was engaging and a lot of fun! The peerless VS restoration process was on full display with stellar sound and picture! Thank you, VS, for continuing to lovingly restore and release so many wonderful films from every conceivable genre! You are keeping physical media alive in this streaming world we now live in! Highly recommended!"

Fantastic!
"This is one that I had never heard of previously. There was a lot of biker movies coming out in the 70’s and this was Hong Kong’s entry. It’s a very well done exploitation movie which has strong elements of Straw Dogs yet stands on its own. There’s lots of violence and the end siege at the beach house is fantastic. I loved this movie and highly recommend it to fans of Hong Kong and exploitation cinema."
