Alicia has been receiving strange phone calls in which loud and ghastly sounds echo through the receiver. Her relationship with her boyfriend, Mike, has hit a dead end and Alicia fears he's having an affair with her twin sister, Barbara Ann. And all the while, a psychotic slasher is murdering young women with the police powerless to stop him. But then Alicia meets kind and nerdy Franklin. Gorman Bechard's (PSYCHOS IN LOVE) directorial debut, DISCONNECTED is a low budget, regional slasher oddity that subverts genre expectations, leading to a brutal and unsettling finale. Never officially released on DVD, Vinegar Syndrome brings this under seen gem of early 80s horror to Blu-ray, newly restored from original 16mm elements and loaded with extras including a rare short film directed by Bechard.

"Pretty good mostly unknown horror thriller. The movie is mysterious with some creepy scenes, a good soundtrack (if you like the 80's) and a good performance from Frances Sherman (aka Frances Raines). The commentary track by the director and one of the actors isn't very illuminating. I wish they had talked more about the original story, what the writer intended, and what they changed. Not that EVERYTHING needs to be explained, I'm okay with the movie as is. But would have liked some discussion about the concept. Mostly they just made sarcastic jokes back and forth at each other. I tried to watch the hour long short film "Twenty Questions", but just couldn't get into it. I have the standard edition only, so missed out on the booklet with the original release, unfortunately."

"Creepy film let down by a really weak ending and very weird story structure. Print isn't great from the grainy 16mm source. But glad I saw it. the bonus movie was interesting as well."

Worth it Only For Twenty Questions

"Movie: Disappointing. The first two thirds of the movie are _fine_, but then the main plot gets resolved and the movie is just aimlessly continuing until it has an abrupt ending where it's really not clear what happened. Carmine Capobianco is the main draw of the movie even though he's only in a handful of scenes. Once his character goes on vacation there's nothing but ~30 minutes of boredom punctuated intermittently by screeching sounds coming out of a phone. Extras: Twenty Questions: Starts off as an interesting time capsule, and as it goes on you hit some really fascinating questions & answers. A few of them even get surprisingly emotional, and the editing kicks it up just enough to amplify the emotions. Other extras: The interviews are solid, and it's nice to get the Q&A for Twenty Questions. Packaging: Bonus points for reversible cover. It's nice to get the original artwork, even if the new artwork is better."
