An amazing biography
"Auto biography by one of the greatest directors who ever did it."
By William Friedkin
Friedkin’s success story has the makings of classic American film. He was born in Chicago, the son of Russian immigrants. Immediately after high school, he found work in the mailroom of a local television station, and patiently worked his way into the directing booth during the heyday of live TV.
An award-winning documentary brought him attention as a talented new filmmaker and an advocate for justice, and it caught the eye of producer David L. Wolper, who brought Friedkin to Los Angeles. There he moved from television to film, displaying a versatile stylistic range. In 1971, The French Connection was released and won five Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director, and two years later The Exorcist received ten Oscar nominations and catapulted Friedkin's career to stardom.
Penned by the director himself, The Friedkin Connection takes readers on a journey through the numerous chance encounters and unplanned occurrences that led a young man from a poor urban neighborhood to success in one of the most competitive industries and art forms in the world. In this fascinating and candid story, he has much to say about the world of moviemaking and his place within it.

"Auto biography by one of the greatest directors who ever did it."
"It´s well written and full of insight and wit. I just love how he starts with a spoiler alert, "nothing salicious in this book unless you count the descriptions of some of my films". Indispensable read for any cinephile and mandatory for any Friedkin fan. It´s a fantastid read."
"I had to buy a physical copy of one of my favorite Hollywood memoirs. If you can find a copy of the audiobook narrated by Friedkin, it's amazing just hearing this deep Chicago accent talk about what a pain in the ass Al Pacino was to work with."
"I am a HUGE William Friedkin Fan! That being said I have waited for a book like this for a very long time! This book is filled with insight from one of the most illusive directors who ever lived. From The Exorcist to Sorcerer to Cruising to Jade this book has it all! If you are a fan of Friedkin you cannot be without this fantastic book! A must own!"
"A great memoir. So much insight"
"William Friedkin was a legendary director and of the multiple films I’ve seen of his they are among some of my favorite all time films, especially To Live And Die In LA and The French Connection. I have not read this book yet but I bought it from the website for good reason - I want to learn more about Friedkin from the horse’s mouth, and i wanted to get a copy while it was available."
