"This is a cool road movie, in which arguably not much happens. I happen to dig that vibe, and if the idea of a Robert Frank/Rudy Wurlitzer film with that cast appeals to you, you should probably check this out!"
"A terrific cast in this wonderfully human story about a search for purpose. Driven-yet-aimless, a real mongrel of a shaggy dog road movie."
"I never heard of this film but it was great. Love anything with Tom waits and the scan was superb."
"vert good. . ."
"First of all, Tom Waits is in this movie and it was released in 1987. Harris Yulin (Ghostbusters ll) or “Mel” from Scarface amongst other films, is also in this film, as well as the guy who played the mayor from the original ghostbusters film. The main character played by Kevin J. O’Connor, I only recognize from the mummies movies and “No Escape” from 1994. He’s really young here. The cab driver from Scrooged is here too ha ha. Roberts Blossom also, and Jackie (Laurie Metcalf) from Rosanne, who is actually pretty hot because she is also pretty young in late 80s. Good camera work and picture clarity. The atmosphere, looks and locations are simply stunning. I love the story, and I actually had fun playing my own game trying to guess which of the A+ cast was going to be Elmore Silk. I wouldn’t call this a comedy but there are some pretty funny parts. Everybody in this film drinks! I’m not sure if this film was a hit or anything in ‘87 since I was only 3 years old but it should have been if it wasn’t. I’m still surprised I never heard of it before it reached the website, this upgraded restoration was done a very nice service. I’m glad I picked this one up. It did not end how most people would expect, that’s all I’m going to say. I like the slipcover and there is a booklet. The Blu-ray has a few extras. Good road movie, I love a good road movie."
"nice release great film"
"Man Film Movement is just killing it, especially with this beautiful transfer. Tom Waits, Joe Strummer and Mr. New York Dolls himself David Johansen in the same movie. And it's directed by Robert Franks who made the banned Rolling Stones documentary 'Cocksucker Blues'. Absolutely love the music too, very surprised this bad boy made it on disc."
"Had never heard of this film before and really enjoyed it. Excellent cameos and supporting cast throughout the entire film."
"essential film."
