Renowned oneirologist Ambrose London is requested to appear at Arkham Asylum by newly appointed Dr. Barnard to study the strange case of James Fhelleps. A patient seemingly inhabited by the personality of Joe Slater, a denizen of the Catskill Mountain region and a primitive colonial peasant of barbaric degeneracy, who had mysteriously vanished 122 years ago. Ambrose and Barnard's investigation takes an unexpected turn when Fhelleps/Slater is attached to London's Dream Machine that releases an alien life from Hell bent on world annihilation.

Often times anymore, I can't

"Often times anymore, I can't tell if Ferrin is just fucking with us or what. The quality swings wildly between films, and often enough, it feels as though he's going as hard into gonzo territory that he can just because it pisses so many people off, which I kind of respect. Whatever it is, it must be working because he's still cranking them out, and I'll give kudos that despite the persistent weirdness and crassness, each film goes for different avenues. It's like watching car crashes with various kinds of dick monsters. Special appearance by Castle Freak action figure."

A Wild Cosmic Horror Ride with Great Effectsv

"Unspeakable: Beyond the Wall of Sleep is an ambitious indie horror film that embraces cosmic horror with enthusiasm. It’s a wild ride, blending surreal imagery, psychological tension, and Lovecraftian ideas into something that feels strange and unpredictable from beginning to end. The practical effects are one of the highlights. They add a tangible, old-school charm that fits the film’s independent spirit and help create some genuinely memorable moments without relying too heavily on CGI. The slipcover is another standout. The artwork captures the eerie, otherworldly tone perfectly, and the sturdy construction gives the release great shelf presence. It’s a nice bonus that complements the film rather than simply serving as packaging. Overall, this is a fun, imaginative horror release that will appeal to fans of cosmic horror and boutique collector editions."

Weird one

"This is a strange movie, but I enjoyed it! Probably the weakest in the series, but I still enjoyed it! Looks great and sounds great!"

More Chad Ferrin Lovecraft insanity!

"If you enjoyed any of the other films made by Chad Ferrin, then you will find plenty to love about this one!"

Thomas P. (5/5)

What a weird adaptation of

"What a weird adaptation of an H. P. Lovecraft story. I was like WTF in a good way. What a cast Edward Furlong and Ginger Lynne with Steve Railsback as the cherry on top. The effects were practical with latex monsters which I really appreciated. Had a fun ride with this one."

Bryan K. (5/5)

Unspeakable

"I really enjoyed this one for the practical effects and it also doesn’t hurt it had Edward Furlong in it. It’s a decent horror movie and if you grew up with Edward Furlong in movies like T2 and Pet Semetary 2 I think you’ll enjoy this one. Packaging and presentation are great!"

Matt R. (5/5)

Another crazy one

"Apparently a sequel to another movie I've never seen. I'd watch Bai Ling in anything. I met her a year ago and she's awesome as you'd expect. Great cast. Mixes zombies with Lovecraft. Lots of movies lately with guys with giant dildos or prosthetics running around. Admittedly, that's pretty scary, but how many of these do we need? At least the third movie with someone biting a penis off I've seen in the last few months. Horror's getting weird. Cast earns it five stars anyway. Oddly generic slipcover. Not even sure who that is on the back."
