FACES OF DEATH II is part of our Vinegar Syndrome Archive collection, celebrating forgotten cinematic oddities from the video store era. This collection was inspired by our own brick & mortar video stores, with locations in Bridgeport, CT, Denver, CO, Toronto, ON, and Pittsburgh, PA.

Unique to this line, each numbered limited edition release will come fitted in a specially designed, bottom loading VHS inspired slipcase, while also including a double-sided poster.

These releases will ONLY be available on our website and at participating indie retailers. Absolutely no major retailers will be stocking them. This spot gloss slipcase edition (designed by Steak Mtn.) is strictly limited to 3,333 units. This release may (but probably not) be followed by a standard edition in the future.

Following a well-needed two-year hiatus, the erudite Dr. Francis B. Gröss returns to further ponder and expose the mysteries of death. Hardly content with his initial morbid surveys of the forbidden, rarely discussed topic of how life ends, he pushes further to show nature's wintry grasp on life, how finality arrives in the boxing ring, and other lethal sights so shockingly primal they beg to be seen. Enthusiastically expanding his sweeping investigations on crime and human atrocities, Gröss paints a shattering and unparalleled portrait of mortality.

Following the unprecedented success of its shocking predecessor, the filmmakers behind Faces of Death created a film even more unsettling in its stark and unflinching realism, offering an even deeper descent into the depravity and savagery of humanity with FACES OF DEATH II (1981). From fatal accidents to the unspeakable cruelty of war, medical experiments, and other abominable acts too heinous to describe, no facet of man’s destruction of his fellow man is left unexplored. Vinegar Syndrome Archive reluctantly brings this even more notorious sequel to 4K UHD and Blu-ray, presented in its fully uncut and uncensored original theatrical version, available for the first time on video in the US, newly restored from its 35mm negative.

Reviews

Not for the faint-hearted !

"As with the original FoD - another superb presentation from VS. To me, FoD II focuses more on things people deliberately do - whether to put themselves at risk or inflict pain/suffering/death on others. The accompanying blu-ray disc is Region A so needs a multiregion player if you’re outside the U. S. /Canada. Superb quality very sturdy slipcase, reversible artwork for the disc case."

More FOD from VSA

"I bought this for a friend, so I cannot say aynthing about the actual content of this release. However, the slipcase in the typical VSA style looks really nice and sturdy. The artwork is simplistic, but fits perfectly in line the release of the first movie. Shame these sold out that fast. Here is to hoping for a Box set with all FOD movies some time in the future."

"Another amazing Faces of 💀 VSA 4k release and this one have selling fast this need no introduction, it's amazing the transfer & quality is perfect ! for those who grew up renting video nasty know what it is ,truly an amazing package like the first one what more can I say again collect them all damn can't wait for the whole series to come out already thank you VS you have outdone yourself with this one again 😎 👍 💀"

Martin B. (5/5)

More death and destruction

"Another fantastic release on the VSA line, this has been stunningly restored and looks fantastic. I certainly my did not expect these movies to get this lavish treatment. This continues in the same vein as the original with more death footage. These mix fake and some real footage it’s just a shame there is the animal footage on these as it really is hard to watch. These releases with the gorgeous packaging are fantastic! Hopefully we get the rest of the series."

Dr Gross strikes again

"At this point it’s no surprise how well the restoration work is, it looks so fresh. It’s a longer cut and the segments reflect on issues still relevant. It’s hard to find someone who is enthusiastic about this series (and will admit it) but this is a very good movie."

Joe S. (5/5)

Good film and sick package

"I never saw Part 2 before. I liked it better than the first since it was real. Some people complain and say it’s lazy since it’s like 95% a bunch of compiled clips. However, the clips are graphic AF. This is a quality mondo movie and the packaging is top notch."

Travis D. (5/5)

Good Flick, Not Enough Copies Made Available

"The peerless VS restoration process was on full display with stellar sound and picture! Thank you, VS, for continuing to lovingly restore and release so many wonderful films from every conceivable genre! You are keeping physical media alive in this streaming world we now live in! Highly recommended!"

Faces of Death II

"I hope this is a sign that we will get the full collection. Very happy with the picture quality and presentation."

Ralph E. (5/5)

Spooky!

"Wasn’t able to pick up the original (uhh please can someone contact me if they have a sealed copy left) but this was an awesome pick to add to the collection. Curious if they’ll do all six Faces of Death films or just the first four - would be awesome if V and VI were super limited releases since they are just bonus footage."

HAMISH B. (5/5)

Faces of Death 2

"How did they make five of these? Interesting that the filmmakers downgraded from 35mm to 16mm, but still happy (disturbed?) to have this in my collection. These films are truly a piece of cinema history."
