HANGS UPON NOTHING documents the lives of surfers: Chuck Corbett who wandered his way to the remote atolls of Kiribati, brothers Mikala and Daniel Jones whose adventures take them to the far corners of the Indonesian archipelago, alongside a local crew of teenage surfers coming of age amongst the surf mecca of Bali. Their intertwined journeys are bound by an unending quest to find and ride perfect waves.
First-time filmmaker, Jeremy Rumas' HANGS UPON NOTHING, is as much a celebration of surfing as it is a stunningly beautiful exploration of mystical cultures where modern technology and millennia of history intersect. Shot entirely on 16mm film using a mechanical spring-wound Bolex, over the course of seven years, and featuring an ethereal original score by Rumas' band, Velo Sun, HANGS UPON NOTHING is a sensory journey of finding freedom in barreling waves.

"it’s ok"
"Not a mind blower, just a pleasant chill experience as described"
"Relaxing movie/documentary with a great score…the way is the aim…"
"Total blind buy, saw the limited edition was still available and figured I’d give it a shot as I love surfing. Couldn’t be happier, immaculate vibes here."
"I watch this and feel overwhelmed by positivity; not a very word filled movie, but maybe that's the point - it's about a tranquility achieved by negotiating nature's all conquering power and coming out the other side feeling whole. Excellent packaging too."
"A great surf film with an even better soundtrack."
"With very little dialogue but a ton of wonderful music, this is a gorgeous, chilled out film that’s more of an aesthetic travelogue than a straightforward documentary."
"Stunning documentary film that’s beautifully shot and scored. Slow paced, lets it tell its own story in its own time. Very chilled viewing."
"This is a documentary for surfers, about surfers. I'm not a surfer, but I really enjoyed this one!"
"Gave me that special feeling I find very occasionally when watching a film, when there's a magical combination of gorgeous music and photography (shot on 16mm in this case). I know nothing about surfing, but it was a blissful hour and a half, and I know I'll be revisiting it many times in the future!"
