Spirit Lake is unusually deep. No diver has ever managed to find the bottom, though many have tried. When Dr. Amelia Brooks disappears during a deep-water dive, her three daughters travel home to settle her affairs. But when the half-sisters jokingly summon a local ghost, their relationship begins to unravel and they find themselves drawn deeper into the mysteries of the lake.

Reviews

A slow-moving vibe generator - the vibe is "bizzare"

"A constant feeling of unease permeates. Something's amiss, captures that feeling that a good fiction of the weird novel can generate. Alas, it is too methodical, too slow. Still, the strangeness of it all carries you through to the end, leaving memorable vibe."

Oleh S. (4/5)

Before or After Midnight, you'll be locked in.

"Weird but not to be dismissed. Unusual cast heightens the secrets and lies throughout an intriguing psychological thriller. Hitting the ground running you will not be able to look away, the Midnight Swim, keeps you thinking and on the edge of your couch. Grab a beer and a big snack you'll need to concentrate. Good, specific extras, a top visual feast."

Shane B. (5/5)

Expected more, thought it was okay

"Has some nice atmosphere and good acting, but wanted more from it overall"

Lewis F. (3/5)

"This is actually a found footage movie, but a very unusual one, as it is very artsy and well directed. There are no cheap jump scares or lazy effects. It's a psychological Horror drama and thus is perfect for Yellow Veil Pictures, who are my favorite partner label when it comes to contemporary movies. My copy is still sealed, so I cannot judge the extras or transfer. I own a German Blu-Ray of it for years. Still I picked this up for the special features and the booklet. Highly recommended for open minded genre film fans."

Dominik F. (5/5)

Nature and nurture

"A nice found footage (mostly) flick that keeps the dread going. Appreciated the three sisters as characters and the way they interacted. The ending was a bit strange but I am down with it. Ill think about this movie every time a bird flies into my window"

Thomas F. (4/5)

Dealing with loss

"A family drama with a potential hint of the supernaturalcentering on three sister's who lost their parent. Very good performances by the actors. This type of release is not my usual cup of tea but found this film interesting. Loads of extras including a couple cool short films. Came with reversible cover and a solid slip with interesting graphics"

Kresh R. (3/5)

Loved it!

"Great movie and fantastic release from an awesome partner label!"

Trevor D. (5/5)

A lowkey found footage classic

"When I first watched The Midnight Swim I fell deeply in love with it and wondered if anyone else would ever see it. So glad to see it getting a gorgeous physical release!"

Cody S. (5/5)

Subtle Family Drama

"This was an interesting indie film about a family processing the loss of their mother. Slow at times, but fairly compelling throughout."

Eric B. (3/5)

A very slow found footage movie

"I don't like giving low ratings but this one wasn't for me. It's very restrained and quite uneventful. A one time watch. The slipcover is a thing of a beauty though."
