Factory 25, a Brooklyn-based independent film distribution company was founded in 2009 by Matt Grady. F25 is a home for conceptually provocative narratives and documentaries. Its mission is to deliver specialized film and music titles in an aesthetically captivating way while exposing the indie world to under-the-radar films, music, and other curiosities in various ways and formats — theatrically, digitally, on TV, VOD, via subscription, limited edition DVDs,  Blu-ray's, books and vinyl. Vinegar Syndrome’s sister company, OCN Distribution, is thrilled to be representing this diverse and unique home video line!

Go Down Death is a wry, sinister realization of a strange new universe, a cross-episodic melange of macabre folktales supposedly penned by the fictitious writer Jonathan Mallory Sinus. An abandoned factory in Brooklyn stands in for a decrepit village haunted by ghosts, superstition and disease, while threatening to buckle under rumblings of the apocalypse. Soldiers are lost and found in endless woods, a child gravedigger is menaced by a shapeshifting physician, a syphilitic john bares all to a young prostitute and a disfigured outcast yearns for the affections of a tone-deaf cabaret singer.

Highlighted by offbeat narrative construction, stunning black-and-white 16mm cinematography and immaculately detailed production design, Go Down Death is a distinctively original film informed by American Gothic, folk culture and outsider art.

Dark vignettes lead by dream logic and poetry.

"Dark vignettes built in dream logic and poetry carry what narrative exists in this film. It's certainly one of those pictures where the viewer is left to ascribe their own meaning Amputee dysmorphics, a boy with seemingly a hundred jobs, scoundrels, musicians and more makes up our cast. A film-aa-arr piece that I very much enjoyed."

So good!

"Really cool flick. Cinematography is incredible in this film and the restoration shows it."

Not To Be Confused With 1945 Film That AGFA Released Digitally

"Definitely shaggier than CHAINED FOR LIFE (another film with a borrowed title), but you can see the through line from this to A DIFFERENT MAN. The similarities to Guy Maddin are certainly there, but Schimburg has proved that he’s not just following the inspiration of others. Definitely recommended if a low-key oddity like this is your speed."

Very Interesting And Engaging Film!

"The dialogue on this particular flick was really quite fascinating! It was very unique and really kept me glued to the screen throughout the multiple different settings and themes. The film itself was quite interesting and had an old-timey feel to it that was quite refreshing! The peerless VS restoration process was on full display with stellar sound and picture! Thank you, VS, for continuing to lovingly restore and release so many wonderful films from every conceivable genre! You are keeping physical media alive in this streaming world we now live in! Highly recommended!"

Go Down Death

"It had lots of atmosphere and beautiful cinematography. Filmed in b&w on film. Never heard of Jonathan Mallory Sinus, but it had a great feel. Folktales. Highly recommended to curious cinephiles"

It came to me in a dream

"its cool to see art and experimental film still be created, not my favorite but definitely one that will stick with you for a while."

Surreal

"Another great factory 25 release. I may not know exactly what is going on…but I like it."

Masterpiece Of Cult Cinema

"I have been waiting for a physical release of this since I first saw it in 2014! A small town set in war time. Love the grainy black and white and miniature atmospheric sets. . . The movie is very poetic and philosophical. Very existential in nature yet there is a positive feeling underneath it all. The kid actors are flawless. Favorite scene is in the school room. Love the interaction between teacher and students. I find this a dark comedy in the sense the philosophical and poetic dialogue is very dark and odd yet the characters listen and respond very seriously. For fans of Guy Maddin and lynch. Slipcover is a major disappointment. First time I ever threw a slipcover in the garbage. Soldier to passing boy: "Did you ever dig a grave' Boy: " I can learn""

I went down

"This one was not for me but if you like surrealism it could be your thing. The look and feel were interesting and I can see in the right frame of mind it might really hit."
