Existential Masterpiece
"Masterpiece of visual storytelling. The opening sequence with the trees and then the main character driving over the bridge with beautiful music is in my top 5 of opening sequences of all time. Right up there with Fellinis 8 1/2, Carlos Reygadas Japon, Tarkovskys Solaris, and Tobe Hoopers Texas chainsaw massacre. Beautiful cinematography, excellent acting by all, and great soundtrack. The main character is an enigma. . . he says very little. The director keeps him mostly a mystery which I appreciated. Every time I watch this I have different ideas about him. . . . sometimes good sometimes bad. Great for repeated viewings. I owned this on dvd before KimStim partnered with vinegar syndrome. So happy to have this now on blu ray with an excellent slip. Only problem with packaging is there is no booklet of essays and pics. Maybe KimStim will one day give us a 4k with booklet and possible a vinyl soundtrack?:)"
