An examination of the iconic 1990s indie band Pavement appears to be just another music documentary—until it isn’t. A prismatic hybrid of narrative, scripted, documentary, musical, and metatextual forms, the film intimately shows the band preparing for their sold-out 2022 reunion tour while simultaneously tracking the preparations for a musical based on their songs, a museum devoted to their history, and a big-budget Hollywood biopic inspired by their saga as the most important band of a generation.

Heavy Meta
"One of my favorite bands gets immortalized in an ultra meta off Broadway musical, indie docudrama and museum retrospective to the amusement and befuddlement of their primary songwriter Stephen Malkmus who seemed perplexed by the fanfare and depths to which the director Alex Ross Perry has gone. If you love payment like I do this 4K presentation is a must own. So many great songs and live concert footage. I was at that Fonda reunion show that was a warm-up before primavera sound and it was incredible."
— Steven A. (5/5)
"Okay" —Steve Malkmus
"Pavement fan from the 90s here, and I honestly thought I would hate this film. Despite what the trailers threaten, there's a a lot more actual Pavement to this than you might guess. It's fun. Music, picture, and extras are top notch."
— Matthew C. (4/5)
