Saturn's Core Audio & Video is a New Jersey based home video label devoted to releasing underground oddities and shot on video cinema on VHS, and now, blu-ray discs! In partnership with OCN Distribution, Saturn's Core will exhume forgotten or under-seen genre cinema from the 80s and 90s, with an emphasis on SOV horror features. Vinegar Syndrome’s sister company, OCN Distribution, is thrilled to be representing this diverse and unique home video line!

When a drug deal goes awry, best friends Stephen and Ian find themselves at odds with a rival crime outfit. Soon after, their lives are turned upside down when they spend a lust filled night with two beautiful women who turn out to be bloodthirsty angelic vampires. Once the vampiric transformation takes hold, Stephen and Ian use their newfound bloodlust and immortality to enact a gore soaked revenge on their backstabbing adversaries. But when Stephen makes a pact with a demon to hunt down and exterminate the angels that spawned him, the former friends must battle to the death as the ultimate fate of mankind hangs in the balance.

In what is perhaps the ultimate mashup of ‘90s genre film tropes, At Dawn They Sleep from Massachusetts based video auteur Brain Paulin (Bone Sickness, Fetus, Blood Pigs) seamlessly fused the vampire mystique, Hong Kong style gunplay, practical splatter FX, and salacious eroticism into a post-Tarantino crime caper. Always notoriously innovative, Paulin packed his micro-budget production with car stunts, miniatures, body burns, full frontal female nudity, somber autumn vibes, and his trademark show stopping practical gore and creature FX; not to mention a blistering black metal soundtrack featuring Dawn, Usurper, War, & Arckanum. Saturn’s Core is proud to present At Dawn They Sleep in its first ever, director approved Blu-Ray edition, newly paired with Paulin’s scarce debut SOV gore epic Reap of Evil (1994) which arrives accompanied by a wealth of extras of its own!

Two classic Paulin movies

"Why two classics? Because "Reap of Evil" is included as a bonus movie and I guess, if the source material was better, it would be featured more prominently. In my eyes at least it's the better of the two films with some great gore. That doesn't mean that "At Dawn They Sleep" is a bad movie. The first half is really entertaining, but it drags a bit in the second half. The transfer on the other hand is perfect! I can recommend this package (that comes with a beautiful artwork) to all SOV horror fans."

Angels, Demons, Vampires, and Bare Skin

"From the morbid mind of Brian Paulin comes another title from the Saturns Core library that I had to get my hands on. After loving Bone Sickness, I went in with high expectations and was not disappointed. With more great stunt work (and one of the funniest gun fights I’ve seen on film), excellent visual effects and gore, plenty of amateur acting to enjoy, and of course more than enough nudity, this is yet another SOV you shouldn’t miss out on. A fun and interesting tale of Vampires, Angels, drug dealings, plenty of violence, and banging death metal soundtrack! Excited to see if Saturn’s Core are able to get anymore of Brian’s work added to their roster, as he’s not a director to miss if SOVs with absolutely no filter are what you’re in to. The SOV genre is quickly becoming one of my favourite genres to delve into through the VS and Saturns Core partnership. On a side note, we are once again treated to more gorgeous slipcover and case artwork by the great Eerie Crypts, who also drew up the cover work for Bone Sickness. Stunning!"
