From bloodier and sexier reimaginings of gothic tropes to shameless homespun ripoffs of international hits, 70s Spanish horror films offered wild and unforgettable delights for audiences domestically and abroad. Three key names working in the genre, Carlos Aured, León Klimovsky, and Amando de Ossorio, helped define and refine what genre films in Spain became most infamous for. Presented here is one key work by each auteur, all of which have been newly and exclusively restored by Vinegar Syndrome for this release.
In CURSE OF THE DEVIL (El Retorno de Walpurgis), director Carlos Aured's (Blue Eyes of the Broken Doll) second collaboration with star Paul Naschy (Frankenstein's Bloody Terror), lycanthrope Waldemar Daninsky is back; doomed to become a bloodthirsty werewolf as punishment for his family's involvement in centuries-old witch trials. Co-written by Naschy and focusing on his familiar blend of carefully constructed characters juxtaposed with gruesome gore, CURSE OF THE DEVIL has been newly restored in 4K. It is presented in its uncensored original version, which features extended nudity and bloodier violence as compared to the more commonly seen international cut.
In THE VAMPIRES NIGHT ORGY (La Orgía Nocturna de los Vampiros), director León Klimovsky (The Werewolf Versus the Vampire Woman) skillfully integrates a suspenseful vampire film with a tense survival thriller as a busload of travelers become stranded in an eerie village where, each night after dark, the townspeople transform into ravenous bloodsuckers. Featuring a cast of Spanish genre-cinema luminaries, including Jack Taylor (Female Vampire) and Helga Liné (Horror Express), this atmosphere-drenched drive-in hit comes newly restored in 4K and presented in its nude export version.
In DEMON WITCH CHILD (La endemoniada), one of the first and most shameless European "re-imaginings" of The Exorcist, director Amando de Ossorio (Tombs of the Blind Dead) revels in over-the-top trashiness as innocent tween Susan Barnes becomes possessed by demonic forces after a vengeful witch gives her a strange, cursed doll. From low-fi spinning torsos to late-night human sacrifices, career horror filmmaker Ossorio keeps the entertainment value high, enhanced by a cast of veteran Spanish character actors, including Daniel Martín (A Fistful of Dollars) and Fernando Sancho (Voodoo Black Exorcist), while the film looks better than ever, having been newly scanned and restored in 4K.

"This came with a replacement disc for one of the films so I’m thankful for that. Mostly purchased for Vampire Night Orgy. I love the artwork used for this release."
"My only slight quibble was this could’ve been a second volume of the Spanish Bloodbath series rather than Curse of the Devil plus two. Curse of the Devil gets top billing because yes, it’s Naschy but Klimovsky and Ossorio are also heavy hitters in Spanish horror that IMO shouldn’t be overshadowed in the set. I trust VS’ reasoning ultimately and I’m just happy to have these genre classics on glorious blu."
"This boxset presenta a great selection of Paul Naschy performances, pure B cinema on a celluloid print. As always, VS doing a great job with the edition and extras. If your thing is werewolves, spanish people and a bucket of blood, you're served!"
"I have seen all three movies already - but I am eager to experience them again in HD - especially "Demon Witch Child" where I had to endure the abysmal PQ of the german release a decade ago!"
"All 3 movies are excellent! One movie being a Paul Naschy is a bonus! I really enjoyed all of the them. Keep them coming please!"
"The royal treatment is given to these 3 Spanish gothic horror films. All 3 are titles that already have been released in less than stellar editions but here they sparkle and shine like never before. Paul Naschy, demons, witches and atmospheric mood abound in these '70s shockers."
"The Vinegar Syndrome box set bringing together Curse of the Devil, Vampires' Night Orgy, and The Demons (often known as Demon with the Child) is a fascinating dive into the wild, atmospheric side of 1970s Spanish horror. Each film leans into gothic themes—curses, vampirism, and demonic possession—while embracing a slightly surreal, dreamlike tone that sets them apart from more conventional genre entries. There’s a raw, almost hypnotic quality to these movies, where eerie locations, slow pacing, and unsettling imagery create a lingering sense of dread rather than relying purely on shocks. As a physical release, this box set is exactly what collectors expect from Vinegar Syndrome: strong restorations that bring out the texture and color of these once-obscure films, along with carefully curated extras that provide context about their production and cultural background. The 4K presentations highlight the moody cinematography and period detail, giving new life to films that were often seen in poor-quality prints for decades. It’s a set that not only preserves these cult titles but elevates them, making it an essential pick for fans of European horror and boutique home video releases."
"A classic Naschy work with Carlos Aured, Curse Of The Devil is really at a point where he was in his prime and knocking out one great film after another. VS gives it their usual high standards and the film is still great all these years later. Highly recommended!"
"Great extras on this triple euro horror release."
"Vampires Night Orgy is excellently restored & much better than the DVD release it got."
