This listing is for the standard edition Blu-ray. The limited edition slipcover (designed by Earl Kessler Jr.) was limited to 5,000 units and is sold out. The two versions are identical, aside from the slipcover.

With the explosion of heavy metal and new wave music in the mid 1980s, it was inevitable that horror filmmakers would seize the opportunity to combine these popular musical stylings with blood and mayhem. While numerous such tie-ins were produced, none were as freaked out and gore soaked as this foot stomping duo, presented fully uncensored and newly restored on Blu-ray from Vinegar Syndrome!

A heavy metal band has been invited to appear in a conservative small town. What they don’t know is that their hosts are in fact a family of horrific and murderous mutants, whose patriarch is none other than Hitler! After being swiftly murdered, Cassie, the only non-violent member of this depraved clan, wills the band back to life. Soon the stuffy townspeople are faced with an unwelcome reckoning as the zombified musicians thrash and maim their way through the community, in the name of grisly revenge…and love!

Without a doubt one of the most original zombie films in the history of the genre, Krishna Shah’s HARD ROCK ZOMBIES is a dazzling blend of horror film and musical, filtered through experimental and arthouse cinema sensibilities. Jam packed with outrageous song and dance sequences juxtaposed with over-the-top violence and ludicrous plot twists, HARD ROCK ZOMBIES comes to Blu-ray for the first time ever, in its completely uncut composite version, sourced from the only known 35mm film elements with video inserts.

Alex, a college student, is being plagued by strange dreams in which a grotesque man commits heinous acts of torture and murder. With the help of his friends, Alex discovers that he has an unexplained telepathic link to a notorious killer who once lived on Alcatraz Island and whose bloodlust extends beyond the grave. When his supernatural experiences begin taking on real life manifestations, Alex and his friends sneak into the abandoned prison to put an end to their reign of terror, only to unwittingly walk into a bloodbath…

Dispensing with any sense of narrative logic, Dimitri Logothetis’ SLAUGHTERHOUSE ROCK gleefully combines tracks from new wave musical sensations, DEVO, with plentiful gut-busting gore, and touches of humor, all set in the spooky, fog filled environs of the infamous Alcatraz Prison. This thrill filled neon-nightmare hits Blu-ray from a brand new 4K restoration of its original 35mm camera negative, with its oft censored gore fully restored.

80s Insanity haha

"Hard Rock Zombies - All you can do is just sit back and let this one wash over you. Unreal. Slaughterhouse Rock - Alcatraz-sploitation that is just completely bonkers Highly recommended release for heavy metal fans, 80s aficionados, lovers of completely insane movies that may or may not make any sense."

Great Double Header

"Initially I got this for Slaughterhouse Rock. Yet another movie I grew up with. It's as nonsensical as it ever was, and looks and sounds better than my old VHS. But the real gem here is Hard Rock Zombies, a movie I had only ever heard of but had never seen. Oh boy, this one is a doozy! The plot synopsis does not quite relate the complete nonsense that unfolds on the screen. It's barely a movie, more of a bonkers Trome-esque themed no budget comedy horror flick. And ever bit of it is great. I had a hell of a time laughing through every ridiculous moment. Really cool seeing a young Phil Fondacaro playing a mutant/nazi dwarf. Absolutely hilarious. Really great double bill here. Honestly can't recommend it enough."

Craig R. (5/5)

Two great flicks in one place

"This cool release features two great flicks in a single release. Each film gets its own Blu-ray Disc which makes this purchase a no brainer."

Mark H. (5/5)

worth the watch

"they were both pretty fun"

Hail Satan!

"Definitely glad this was a double feature as each film has some significant highs and some real weaknesses. The music in Hard Rock Zombies is legitimately fantastic and the villains are preposterous. Slaughterhouse Rock never quite lives up to the 'rock' of it's title and you can feel where scenes/sub-plots either were cut or not filmed. The gore is good though."

Stephen P. (3/5)

Great double feature with good

"Great double feature with good transfers. Fantastic and plentiful special features for both. Each flick gets a side of the slip."

Low Budget Trash Masterpiece

"This is one of those movies where you keep asking yourself, "What did I just see?" as you watch it unfold. The costumes, settings, and soundtrack all work for the premise. The makeup for the zombies looks like I could have done it, and there are some bad montages. However, there's also a werewolf with two switchblades, Nazi midgets that eat cows, elements of puppet masters, and a great ending. The props are hit or miss and had me cracking up throughout; there's a scene where Arthur has the worst "branch" prop I've ever seen. Despite this, the ending is worth the journey, making it one of those "so bad it's good" films."

Werewolves, Eva Braun. . .

". . . and zombies, oh my! This was a fun ride LOL! It really feels like a movie created in Mad Libs, it's that out there. The sound was good, as was the transfer. Worth a cheap upgrade if you've ever seen any other form of media this came in"
