American screenwriter Dan Gillis (Jeff Goldblum), based in Paris and reeling from a recent separation, receives a commission from producer Julien Legrand (Daniel Ceccaldi) to collaborate with ambitious young director Malcolm Greene (Dexter Fletcher). But as Dan becomes entangled with Malcolm's sister Jenny (Liza Walker), his agent Marilyn (Miranda Richardson) and the project's bizarre erotic screenplay, his life unravels in a web of manipulation, incestuous secrets, and dangerous deception.
The Mad Monkey (aka Twisted Obsession) marks Belle Epoque's Academy Award-winning director Fernando Trueba's bold entry into psychological neo-noir—an exquisitely directed, serpentine thriller that blends erotic intrigue with hallucinatory dreams and shocking revelations. Beautifully shot by José Luis Alcaine (The Skin I Live In), the film masterfully crafts the darkest side of Paris and the film industry, featuring an international cast that includes Jeff Goldblum (Jurassic Park), Miranda Richardson (Damage), Dexter Fletcher (Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels), and Liza Walker (Hackers). Long unavailable outside Europe, this restored high-definition presentation offers North American audiences the opportunity to discover this overlooked gem of Spanish cinema on Blu-ray for the very first time.

"Decent film with a good cast. Transfer is good and decent slipcover. Good release look forward to what's coming from Bizaro"
"This film will not be for everyone, but wait. It is well crafted. It is a fever dream in stream of consciousness, and I can certainly draw some Felinni vibes. Its a slow slow burn, but worth it. Its one of those films that turns you inside out and you dont even realize it. I was skeptical on the first watch, and now I think i am on my seventh? By this film of you appreciate pieces about nothing but ourselves."
"Jeff Goldblum and Miranda Richardson are enough reason to buy anything. I've loved her since Sleepy Hollow and Goldblum is one of the few actors who is always interesting no matter what the part or movie. This one is kind of a thriller and kind of a noir, but with the exception of one short section that could be defined as a chase, there is no real action or suspense in the movie. It ends up more a movie about making movies and the exploitation that comes with it. An interesting ending gets a bit over the top. An odd one, but interesting and well made. Definitely lifted by its great actors."
"Wanted to watch this for a long time. Happy buyer."
"Very nice thriller. Bizarro took a little of a left turn with this release compared to what has come before but it works. Great film!"
"Twisted Obsession is an overlooked neo-noir that blends psychological thriller, erotic drama, and behind-the-scenes filmmaking into something far stranger than its reputation suggests. Set in a shadowy Paris film world, it follows a screenwriter whose growing obsession draws him into a murky web of exploitation and moral decay."
"American writer in Paris is hired to do a script for an edgy young director he can't stand. When he falls in love with the director's cold and manipulative pretty sister, his life starts to unravel and he realizes that he's been used."
"I haven't seen this since its original video release and it still holds up."
"Anything with Mr Goldblum is always a good time and this is no exception. Nicely shot. Good transfer and package."
"A wild, twisted ride with plenty of weirdness! The Mad Monkey is dark, bizarre and oddly addictive—definitely not your average movie."
