Factory 25, a Brooklyn-based independent film distribution company was founded in 2009 by Matt Grady. F25 is a home for conceptually provocative narratives and documentaries. Its mission is to deliver specialized film and music titles in an aesthetically captivating way while exposing the indie world to under-the-radar films, music, and other curiosities in various ways and formats — theatrically, digitally, on TV, VOD, via subscription, limited edition DVDs,  Blu-ray's, books and vinyl. Vinegar Syndrome’s sister company, OCN Distribution, is thrilled to be representing this diverse and unique home video line!

An up-close cinematic walkabout through the life of Gary Young, the original (and highly unlikely) drummer of indie rock royalty Pavement. His booze and drugs-fueled antics (on-stage handstands, gifting vegetables to fans) and haphazard production methods (accidentally helping launch the lo-fi aesthetic) were both a driving force of the band's early rise and the cause of his eventual crash landing. Leaving a wake of joy and/or destruction at every turn, Gary teeters the thin line between free-form self-expression and chaotic self-destruction. Thirty years on with scoliosis, blood clots, and a shriveled liver, Gary continued drumming with no regrets.

Gary Young Forever

"Graduating college in 1990, Pavement was one of my all time favorite bands and I was lucky to get to see them on every you're through Southern California once I discovered their Slay Trax ep. I did get to witness their drummer Gary Young so the show to do a handstand in the middle of their set. This doc captures his would nature and gives insight into how he split from the band. The doc makes clever use of marionettes to dramatize some of the band history over narration. Highly recommend to fans of pavement and fans of crazy drummers"

For true heads

"Features alone make it worth it. This is the definitive pavement documentary as far as I’m concerned. A must have for fans of the band."

Gabriel Z. (5/5)

Great Documentary

"Awesome documentary on Gary Young and Pavement"

Noah H. (5/5)

"Great watch. If you are going to watch Pavements, you might as well pair it up with this. It does make a great double feature."

Dennis (5/5)

Absolutely loved this

"Really a fantastic watch. Even as a Pavement fan going back to the their 90s appearances on animated shows and later their mid-aughts reissues, I learned so much from this - and it's also visually so excellent with the use of marionettes, puppets, animation - so refreshing considering how much other recent documentaries have been relying on some absolutely awful AI (I mean, all AI is awful and has no place in cinema, and I'm glad this documentary has none of it) Gary's such an incredible subject, and the vintage footage plus modern interviews are so warm and incredible."

Charles K. (5/5)

For Pavement fans

"Great doc with a lot of uncommon creativity for a nonfiction piece. Lots of neat early live footage and very unpolished interviews. Lots of psychedelic puppets. What’s not to like?"

Brent B. (5/5)

The film was an interesting

"The film was an interesting documentary on Gary Young, Pavements first drummer. He hit the big time with Pavement but quit because he wanted the band to sign a larger contract for more money. He died after the film was released. I got the film from the Vinegar Syndrome website."

DOUGLAS B. (5/5)

There Goes Gary

"Louder Than You Think is a powerful documentary that celebrates musician Gary Young, Pavement’s eccentric original drummer. Through interviews and archival footage, the film paints a vivid portrait of a chaotic genius whose influence extended far beyond the drum kit. It’s a moving, funny, and deeply human story about creativity, struggle, and the lasting impact of those who live unapologetically."

"My favorite band"

Ryan V. (5/5)

Great release, highly recommended!

"Gary Young, drummer for indie-rock icons Pavement, injected a wild-card unpredictability into the band's breakthrough, lo-fi sound. But those same gonzo impulses derailed his rock star dream."
