Four middle aged men are headed to a remote lodge for a weekend of hunting. Stopping along the way to pick up a pretty, teenage hitchhiker, the foursome lure her to their cabin wherein she is savagely attacked and assaulted by two of the men. After making her escape, the young woman decides to file charges against the men who picked her up, but in doing so unleashes the unexpected vengeance of Charlie, her main attacker, and setting in motion a series of deadly incidents...

Mis-marketed as a horror film, DEADLY DAPHNE'S REVENGE is a slow-burn revenge thriller shot as 'THE HUNTING SEASON'. Conceived as a vanity project by writer/director/producer/star, Richard Gardner, and sold as a sort-of promotional tie in for Gardner's Orange County based talent agency, DAPHNE is a genre bending piece of outsider filmmaking which incorporates rape and revenge tropes, crime thriller set pieces, and vague slasher allusions. Vinegar Syndrome brings this unique exploitation film to Blu-ray, uncut and restored from its original negative.

A Troma classic

"This was an early VS release that I was lucky to snatch a copy of during a special warehouse sale. It was a Black Friday suprise title in 2018 and unfortunately not only the slipcover was limited, but the whole release altogether. The film itself is a pretty slow revenge thriller which seemingly had a very low budget. It's not a genuine Troma production, but they have distributed the movie since its VHS days. The cover makes you think it's a Horror movie with a witch or something. It's not. Picture quality is great, restored from the 35mm OCN. Since this is a fairly early VS release, there's not as much extras as we are used to now. A 12 minute interview with one of the actresses, an isolated score (who needs that?), a different opening and a still gallery."

This movie was too fun.

"This movie was too fun. It was a blind buy and it kinda put me in the same feel as camp / backwoods slasher but then it takes on a more revenge film as it goes along. I would def recommend this to anyone. Its on of my favorite VS releases of all time."

Deadly Daphnes Revenge is quite the watch!

"Deadly Daphne's Revenge is a backwoods creepy movie from what I feel like is an era that is cemented in horror. Grizzly at times, this movie kept me feeling like something bad was going to happen. I throughly enjoyed it. Its a movie I put on with a few friends. Id say check it out if you like late 80's horror!"

The Hunting Season

"Four men pick up a teenage hitchhiker. They take her to their cabin and there one of the men rapes her. She escapes and file charges against all the men. One of the men tries to speak to her because they did get along just fine in the cabin and they become friends. Then weird things starts to happen. There's also mental patient (Daphne) running in the woods near the cabin. Well, I thing the hunting season is much better name for this movie. Daphne is just background character. Movie is too long and little boring, because there's not much happening."

Weird and interesting blending of genres

"This is quite a blending of genres! Another great release by VS, very lucky to get a copy of this out of print thriller."

Michael W. (4/5)

Not a horror movie

"Sorta dull rape revenge-ish thriller that isn't too thrilling. Not really my thing but if you like the genre there might be something of value here."

Daniel R. (3/5)

Fun movie

"A classic revenge film from Troma given a great release by Vinegar Syndrome"

Decent movie, great release!

"The movie itself is decent, not bad, but nothing crazy. The presentation of the movie is amazing on the other hand, VS always does a great job!"

Obscure film given new life

"I was so happy I was able to obtain this release from VS as it was very much out of print. Excellent transfer of a very obscure film."
